The Laboratory of Metabolic Diagnostics was established in July 2025 as a result of the reorganization of the research laboratory based on the Department of Metabolic Diagnostics. The Department of Metabolic Diagnostics was established in 2017 by combining biochemical, hormonal, and chemical technology groups in the structure of the Research Laboratory of the State Educational Institution "Belarusian Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education" (hereinafter – the BelMAPE Research Institute). The work of the biochemical group was initially headed by Professor I.B.Livshits, and from 1991 to 1999 by Professor V.S. Danilchik. Since 2000, the laboratory has been headed by Senior researcher T.M. Yuraga.

List of laboratory analytical studies:
- biochemical blood analysis with determination of parameters of the main types of metabolism (protein, fat, carbohydrate, key metabolic enzymes, bioelements, vitamins)
- hormonal studies (thyroid hormones, sex hormones, adrenal glands, pancreas)
- assessment of antioxidant status (indicators of the "POL-AOS" system)
- general clinical analysis of urine: physical and chemical properties, quantitative content of shaped elements
- determination of the main modulators of the lithogenesis process in urine (ions of calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, potassium, sodium, chlorine; oxalates, uric acid)
- qualitative analysis of the chemical structure of urolith (optical macroscopy, qualitative chemical reactions, re-precipitation reactions with crystal formation, microcrystalloscopy)
- assessment of morphofunctional changes in organs and tissues for the purpose of dynamic observation during the treatment of various pathological conditions using methods of impression cytology
- detection of male reproductive health disorders (spermogram, DNA test, DNA fragmentation)
- conducting research using high-performance liquid chromatography and atomic emission spectrometry of samples of biological objects and medicines
The main directions of scientific research activity:
1. Conducting a structural analysis of macromolecular (proteins, lipids) and low molecular weight (metal ions) metabolites using a system based on "metabolomics" and "metallomics" technologies to study the features of the formation of metabolic disorders in various pathologies.
2. Development of information technologies for automatic evaluation of laboratory results and clinical decision-making.
3. Creation of a personalized metabolic passport model for patients with urolithiasis, benign prostatic hyperplasia, etc.
4. Formation of a complex of laboratory technologies for the detection of male reproductive health disorders.
5. Research and evaluation of human bioelement homeostasis.
6. Assessment of antioxidant activity of biological samples.
7. Validation and development of testing methods for medicines, veterinary drugs and substances using liquid chromatography.
