The department staff prepare thematic lectures for each meeting of the circle. Topics of lectures are planned at beginning of the year, approved by the head of the department and posted on the information stand.
The teachers of the department also prepare new topics for student research work at beginning of the academic year. There are also posted on the information stand.
Patients are examined during the meetings. Students discuss diagnostic methods and treatment tactics in surgical patients. There are also take part in operations. The students themselves prepare reviews of surgical journals, make thematic reports and report on the results of the research work carried out.
Student scientific conferences are held in April of each year. Students present reports on the work done. Every year students prepare scientific works for the republican review-competition, publish printed articles and speak at conferences in other universities in the country and abroad.
Students who have shown themselves actively in the work of the scientific circle are encouraged at the department. The results of their work are taken into account when distributing to the subordination of surgery, as well as when entering postgraduate studies and clinical residency.
