Student Scientific Society of Medical and Biological Physics

Department of the Medical and Biological Physics pay great attention to the early involvement of the students in research. Research helps the students expand their knowledge, provides them with up-to-date information and valuable ideas and enables them to satisfy their professional interests. The aim of Student Scientific Society is to enable the students to realize their scientific potential. Student Scientific Society activity is based on the principles of self-government and publicity. Students receive deep knowledge in the fields of modern medical physics, learn to observe and conduct experiments, and formulate the results of research.

The Student Scientific Society of the Department of Physics has existed since 1961. The scientific works of students are supervised by the teachers of the department, among whom the most active in recent years are: associate professors Goltsev M. V., Leshchenko V. G., Insarova N. I., Kukharenko L. V., Ivanov A. A., Mansurov V. A., Lukyanitsa V. V., senior lecturers Suslina T. I., Nedzvedz O. V., and other teachers.

From 1961 to 1972, the Student Scientific Society was engaged in the study of liquid crystals and their biological role, and the head of the Department of Physics at that time, F. K. Gorsky, was also actively engaged in this direction.

From 1973 to 1992, the staff of the department actively attracted the best students to study the optical properties of biological objects, to develop optical methods and equipment for studying peripheral blood circulation, the development of elements of television ophthalmological systems, to study the impact of laser radiation on biological objects (retina, cornea, leather).

In 1980-1997 at the Minsk State Medical Institute (now BGMU), a student design bureau was created, the scientific and technical leadership of which was carried out by the Department of Physics. The devices and installations created in it were demonstrated at the exhibitions of student creativity and the BelExpo exhibition

In 2000-2010, students participated in the studies of the physical properties of composite ion-plasma coatings of the cutting surgical and technological instrument, as well as in the study of the effects of interaction of UHF radiation with human tissues, the using of lasers and polychromatic polarized radiation in dermatology and cosmetology, oncology. Moreover, new direction of research was started - the atomic force microscopy use in study of biomedical objects.

Since 2009, the Student Scientific Society of the Department has been actively engaged in the development of portable systems for functional diagnostics for long-term monitoring of a number of physico-biological parameters of human activity in order to further clinical and domestic use, and from 2011 to research on the use of a number of acoustic and digital techniques in medicine and pharmacy.

The Student Scientific Society participates in the organization of student conferences. Every year in April a student scientific conference devoted to topical and challenging problems of current medicine is held at our University. Students take part at the scientific and practical conferences to present new research and exchange of experience. A lot of research works carried out by the students has been submitted to the Republican competition of students' scientific works and then has been awarded the prize.

Congratulations to our students with well-deserved prizes!
