Development of scientifically grounded methods of diagnosis and surgical treatment of patients with congenital and acquired pathology of the maxillofacial region (including those with median cysts and fistulas of the neck; with the presence of postoperative wounds in the hard palate; fractures of the zygomatic-orbital complex) with the publication of the main results obtained scientific research in the open press, presentation of reports at scientific congresses, conferences and congresses.
Implementation of the results of scientific research into practical health care and the educational process of teaching in the main sections of maxillofacial surgery with the development of instructions for use, registration of acts of implementation, obtaining patents for inventions, and preparing teaching aids.
Participation in the preparation, organization and holding of republican congresses, congresses, seminars (including with international participation), lectures for practitioners on the main problems of modern maxillofacial surgery and surgical dentistry.
Expert activity in the review of educational and methodological publications, scientific articles, monographs, examination of dissertation research, scientific projects, work in scientific problem-expert commissions of the university on problems of dentistry and maxillofacial surgery, expert councils for the defense of dissertations, editorial boards of periodicals.

25.09.2018 assistant Dudareva-Pugach I.V. (BSMU) (supervisor: Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Lastovka A.S ..) successfully defended her thesis "Adenolymphoma of the parotid gland (clinical and morphological options and preoperative diagnostics)" for the degree of candidate of medical sciences in specialty 14.01 .14 - dentistry at a meeting of the council for the defense of dissertations D 03.15.06 (BelMAPO). By the decision of the Presidium of the Higher Attestation Commission of the Republic of Belarus of 12.12.2018, she was awarded the degree of candidate of medical sciences.
October 26, 2018 at a meeting of the Presidium of the Higher Attestation Commission of the Republic of Belarus, Head. department A.S. Lastovka awarded the academic title of professor (clinical medicine).
Currently, research work at the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery of the Belarusian State Medical University is being conducted within the framework of a new initiative department theme: "Actual problems of maxillofacial surgery" (deadline 01.01.2019 - 31.12.2023) (documents are on registration ). Objective of the study: improving the efficiency and quality of treatment of patients with surgical pathology of the maxillofacial region.
Research objectives:
1. To complete the analysis of the data obtained on the identified aspects of diagnosis and differentiated methods of surgical treatment of median cysts and fistulas of the neck with revision, registration and defense of the thesis.
2. To continue, under experimental conditions, by histological examination, the determination of the features of healing of the wound surface of the mucous membrane of the hard palate, depending on the method of postoperative management of the defect and the use in the clinic of the optimal method of healing by secondary intention of defects of the mucous membrane of the hard palate with the development of a modification of the protective palatine plate.
3. To continue the study of the condition of the lower wall of the orbit in patients with fractures of the zygomatic-orbital complex using radiation research methods to determine the required volume of diagnostic procedures and tactics of their surgical treatment.
