At the Department of Childhood and Adolescent Hygiene in the 2016-2017 academic year, a volunteer group “The path to child's health” has been created and is currently operating. Currently, there are 13 volunteers in the volunteer department.
Volunteering is a wide range of activities, including traditional forms of mutual assistance and self-help, formal provision of services, and other forms of civic participation, that are carried out voluntarily for the benefit of the general public without reward.
A volunteer group (VG) is a form of organizing the life of the student’s group at the university.
The goal of the VG «The path to child’s health»: formation of the healthy lifestyle among preschoolers, schoolchildren and students using innovative forms of preventive work.
Objectives of the VG “Path to child health”:
- popularization of a healthy lifestyle among preschoolers, schoolchildren of the city of Minsk and students of the Belarusian State Medical University;
- raising awareness of healthy lifestyle;
- the formation of moral culture in the preschool, adolescent and youth environment;
- the formation of physical culture in preschool, adolescent and youth environment;
- the formation of motivational attitudes towards the priority value of health and a healthy lifestyle in the scale of personal values;
- the formation of socialization skills aimed at preserving their own health;
- selection and training according to a specially prepared program, development of organizational skills and communication skills among volunteers;
- activation of youth in addressing issues of promoting a healthy lifestyle.
Areas of volunteer activity:
- Preventive work to form the foundations of the child's life safety.
- Preventive work on the organization of rational nutrition as a way to maintain health.
- Work on the prevention of Internet addiction - a disease of the 21st century.
- Preventive work on the formation of physical culture as a way to preserve the health of the child.
- Work on the prevention of school-related pathology (diseases of the musculoskeletal system and the organ of vision).
- Work on teaching time management to schoolchildren.
- Work on the prevention of bad habits (tobacco smoking, alcoholism, drug addiction, substance abuse).
The department has developed a training program for volunteers (35 hours), according to which training is carried out on the basis of the department of hygiene of children and adolescents and remotely (in absentia) using materials located on the department's page. At the end of the course, the student receives a volunteer certificate.
Volunteers of the Department of Childhood and Adolescent Hygiene have the opportunity to undergo training in practical health care organizations, educational institutions, educational centers.
