Visit of Qujing University of Medicine and Health Sciences Delegation to BSMU: New Prospects for Cooperation
Belarusian State Medical University continues to strengthen its international engagement by expanding its partnership network with foreign medical universities.
On June 10, the university hosted a delegation from Qujing University of Medicine and Health Sciences (Yunnan Province, China). This visit marked an important step in the development of international cooperation between medical educational institutions in Belarus and China.
During the negotiations, members of the Chinese delegation expressed interest in discussing prospects for collaboration in medical education, as well as academic exchanges for students and faculty. The parties also explored opportunities for further cooperation, including the potential signing of an inter-university agreement on scientific and academic collaboration.
The delegation was warmly received by Sergey Rubnikovich, Rector of BSMU, Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor; Vasili Roudenok, Vice-Rector for International Relations, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor; Alena Sushchenia, Associate Professor of the Department of Medical Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine, Candidate of Medical Sciences.
The Chinese delegation was headed by Yu Zulin, Secretary of the Chinese Communist Party, Rector of Qujing University of Medicine and Medical Sciences. Accompanying him were Chen Hua, Dean of the School of Humanities; Xu Tao, Vice Dean of the School of Clinical Medicine; Yang Hui, Sports Health and Rehabilitation Program Director; Xu Haidan, Deputy Director of the Office of Admissions, Employment and International Exchange.
A highlight of the visit was a tour of the Republican Center for Medical Rehabilitation and Balneotherapy – a clinical base for BSMU’s Department of Medical Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine. The Chinese colleagues highly appreciated the modern rehabilitation techniques used at the Center and expressed interest in organizing short-term internships for their faculty and specialists, as well as sharing expertise in physiotherapy, therapeutic exercise, and balneology.
In addition, the delegation emphasized their commitment to faculty training and professional development, noting the relevance of BSMU’s programs for the staff of Qujing University of Medicine and Health Sciences.
The outcomes of the meeting laid a solid foundation for long-term collaboration. The partnership is expected to foster the exchange of best practices, enrich medical education, and contribute to the professional growth of students and academic staff in both countries.
