BSMU students took part in the International Student School of Disaster Medicine

From the 25th to the 29th of May, students from Pediatric Department and Department of General Medicine of Belarusian State Medical University participated in the International Student School of Disaster Medicine, organized by the I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University (Moscow, Russian Federation).

The International Student School of Disaster Medicine is an educational project aimed at development of competencies in the fields of disaster medicine, tactical medicine, and emergency medicine. 26 students took part in the school, including students from Sechenov University and 6 students from Pediatric Department and Department of General Medicine of Belarusian State Medical University.

The educational program was held at the Accreditation and Simulation Center, the Military Training Center, the Sports Center, and the Troyan Historical and Patriotic Center. During the training, the participants learned about organization of medical care at pre-hospital stage, participated in the course "Tactical Medicine", mastered the skills of triage, bleeding control, first aid, and casualty evacuation.

Particular attention was paid to practical training using highly realistic simulators and virtual reality technologies, allowing for the modeling of various emergency situations and the development of medical personnel response algorithms.

As part of the school, BSMU students participated in the scientific and practical conference "Current Issues in Tactical Medicine", dedicated to modern approaches to the development of disaster medicine and the training of medical personnel.

One of the most significant events was the military medical relay race, during which the participants demonstrated the skills of first aid, medical evacuation, and teamwork. Following the competition, the team of Belarusian State Medical University took the third place.

Upon completion of the program, the participants received certificates and diplomas from the International Student School of Disaster Medicine.

The participation of BSMU students in the school contributed to the improvement of practical skills, the expansion of professional competencies, and strengthening of cooperation between Belarusian State Medical University and Sechenov University.
