Republican scientific and practical conference with international participation "Current issues of military medicine"
On the 4-5 of June, there was held a national scientific and practical conference with international participation "Current Issues in Military Medicine" at BSMU. The event was dedicated to the Day of the foundation of the Military Medical Institute at Belarusian State Medical University.
At the opening of the conference, welcoming remarks were given by Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor Yuri Sokolov, Academician-Secretary of the Department of Medical Sciences of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Vasily Bogdan, and Head of the Military Medical Institute of Belarusian State Medical University, Candidate of Medical Sciences Dmitry Klimenkov.
Following the opening of the event, there were given reports by military medicine specialists. Dmitry Klimenkov, Head of the Military Medical Institute of Belarusian State Medical University and Candidate of Medical Sciences, presented a report entitled "Improving the Training of Military Medical Personnel". The discussion also focused on the algorithm for admitting patients with combat surgical pathology to the hospital, the evolution of underground medical facilities, medical evacuation, the implementation of the concept of resuscitation damage control, and the practical orientation of the Department of Military Epidemiology and Military Hygiene: directions and development prospects.
There were given reports by specialists from the Russian Federation: "Assessment of the effectiveness of room disinfection using ultrasonic aerosol dispersion" and "Comparative analysis of transplanted parathyroid gland autografts (as an experiment) based on histological data".
After the presentation, there was a discussion and summing up of the plenary session.
The conference included two sections devoted to the development of scientific research in the fields of military field therapy, military field surgery, the organization of medical support for troops and disaster medicine, as well as military epidemiology and military hygiene.
Maxim Gaponenko, a fourth-year cadet of the Military Medical Institute, attended the conference and shared his impressions. He noted that such forums are a unique opportunity for every cadet and officer to gain insights and experience from their colleagues and comrades.
Dmitry Klyuiko, Head of the Department of Military Field Surgery of the Military Medical Institute, Doctor of Medical Sciences and Associate Professor, noted that the conference became a multidisciplinary platform for the exchange of modern medical knowledge and experience, and emphasized the critical importance of coordinated teamwork in today's environment. And it becomes the key to success in providing any type of assistance to patients.
On the 5th of June, there was organized a round table on the issues of international cooperation as part of the conference. There was also held gala concert dedicated to the Day of the foundation of Military Medical Institute.
The event confirmed the relevance of developing military medicine and the importance of international cooperation in this area.
