The role of metabolic syndrome in the formation of comorbid diseases was discussed at Belarusian State Medical University by participants of the Belarusian-Uzbek seminar
In accordance with the state program "People's Health and Demographic Security", aiming at the realization of the tasks, outlined in the Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation in the field of healthcare between the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Belarus and the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan, based on the Order of the Rector of the educational institution “Belarusian State Medical University”, on the 28th of January, there was held an international scientific and practical seminar using telemedicine technologies “The role of metabolic syndrome in the formation of comorbid diseases”.
This event is a long-term tradition in the cooperation of Belarusian State Medical University and the Center for the Development of Professional Qualifications of Medical Workers of the Republic of Uzbekistan, an important element of bilateral interaction in the field of science. The partners conduct joint researches, prepare joint publications, review scientific projects and dissertations, and participate in scientific and practical conferences held in the Republic of Belarus and the Republic of Uzbekistan. Scientific and practical seminars using telemedicine technologies dedicated to the Day of Belarusian Science have already become a tradition. The topic of the webinar this year reflected the research work approved by the leading medical university of Belarus (its leader is Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor Vadim Sushinsky).

The seminar began with an opening speech made by the Vice-Rector for International Relations of Belarusian State Medical University, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Vasili Roudenok and the Acting Deputy Director for Academic Affairs of the Center for the Development of Professional Qualifications of Medical Workers of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Farkhod Primov.
Then the professor of the Department of Internal Diseases of the Center for the Development of Professional Qualification of Medical Workers of Uzbekistan, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Ulugbek Kayumov made a report “The etiopathogenetic significance of the metabolic syndrome in the formation of comorbid diseases”.
The webinar was continued by head of the Department of Therapy of the educational institution “Belarusian State Medical University”, Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor Marina Shtonda (the topic of the speech is “Organization of primary and secondary prevention of comorbid diseases in patients with metabolic syndrome”) and head of the Department of Internal Diseases of the Development Center for the Development of Professional Qualification of Medical Workers, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Aziz Ibragimov (the topic of the scientific report was “Features of the treatment of coronary heart disease in patients with metabolic syndrome”). The report “Problematic issues in the diagnosis and treatment of obesity in outpatient practice” was presented by Associate Professor of the Department of Therapy of Belarusian State Medical University, Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor Vadim Sushinsky.
The event ended with a discussion, which was attended by Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Ulugbek Kayumov and Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor Vadim Sushinsky.
In should be noted that interns and clinical residents, physicians who undergo advanced training courses at Belarusian State Medical University and specialists of the Center for the Development of Professional Qualifications of Medical Workers of Uzbekistan were invited to the webinar. In their opinion, further close interaction between our two institutions will be a platform for improving the provision of medical care in healthcare organizations.
