The Festival of Lights, which brings people together

The Festival of Lights, which brings people together

On the 31st of October, there was a festive atmosphere in the hall of the main building of the university - we celebrated Diwali, a bright festival of lights that symbolizes the victory of light over darkness. This is a national festival, deeply rooted in the culture of India, Sri Lanka and Nepal, which brings hope, happiness and unity. Diwali is celebrated not just for one day, but for a whole week, and every moment is filled with special meaning and joy.

The event was attended by honored guests, among them were the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of India to the Republic of Belarus Alok Ranjan Jha, Director of the Milemir company Sah Rama Shankar, Secretary of the Central Committee of the Belarusian Republican Youth Union Pavel Alexo and Rector of Belarusian State Medical University, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Sergei Rubnikovich. Their presence emphasizes the importance of cultural exchange and friendship between our nations.

On this day, special emphasis is placed on the tradition of lighting sacred candles known as deepam. These lights symbolize light and knowledge, and lighting them is an act of spiritual purification. People ask for protection and blessings, seeking to drive away darkness and evil. Our university approaches this tradition with special reverence, creating an atmosphere of unity and harmony.

The festive concert program left no one indifferent. Students from India and Sri Lanka performed on stage, presenting creative performances that demonstrated the richness and diversity of their cultures. Dances, songs and theatrical performances captivated the audience, and the sounds of thunderous applause were heard even outside the university. Each performance was imbued with the spirit of Diwali, and the guys did their best, showing their skills and passion for art.

An important part of the celebration was mehendi - traditional henna patterns on the hands that symbolize joy and happiness. Everyone could decorate their hands with beautiful drawings, which added a festive atmosphere and brought students together, creating a feeling of unity.

Diwali is not just a holiday, it is a symbol of unity and mutual understanding. At our university, we strive to create a space where students from Belarus, India, Nepal and Sri Lanka can share their traditions and cultural characteristics, enriching each other.

The Diwali celebrations became a highlight for the entire university community. The light of lights, the sounds of music and joyful smiles created an atmosphere that will be remembered for a long time. We thank all participants and guests for this unforgettable event and look forward to new cultural initiatives in the future!

Let light and joy fill your hearts!
