Minsk-Changchun: Online Conference with Changchun University of Chinese Medicine
On the 3rd of December, there was held a joint online conference with Changchun University of Chinese Medicine, dedicated to current issues in modern medicine, at Belarusian State Medical University.
Dmitry Chuikov, Vice-Rector for International Relations of Belarusian State Medical University, and Shi Guijun, Vice-President of Changchun University of Chinese Medicine, welcomed the forum participants on behalf of the administration of the two universities.
The event became a platform for lively scientific dialogue between scientists and students from the two countries. The conference's extensive program included presentations on a wide range of topics.
Belarusian State Medical University presented reports on current trends in cardiology and cardiac surgery in Belarus, the evolution of diabetes diagnostics, and the clinical aspects of chronic cough. The speakers were Elena Grigorenko, Professor of the Department of Cardiology and Internal Medicine, Doctor of Medical Sciences; Alla Shepelkevich, Professor of the Department of Endocrinology, Doctor of Medical Sciences; and Zhanna Antonovich, Associate Professor of the Department of General Medical Practice with a Course in Geriatrics and Palliative Medicine, Candidate of Medical Sciences.
Chinese colleagues from Changchun University of Chinese Medicine shared the results of innovative research in the fields of immunology, neurodegenerative diseases, and minimally invasive spinal surgery. The reports were presented by Professor Guo Junpeng, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Li Xin, Head of the Department of Immunology of the Faculty of Medicine, and Cong Lin, Attending Physician and Assistant Research Fellow of the Third Affiliated Hospital of Changchun University of Chinese Medicine.
The conference highlighted the importance of an interdisciplinary and intercultural approach in solving global health challenges. The participation of students from both medical universities – the future of medical science – gave the event special value.
Summing up the results of this international event, the parties emphasized its significance for both Belarusian and Chinese scientists. They expressed their intention to continue holding similar and other events both in person and remotely.
