International recognition of the Belarusian Scientific Society of Morphologists
Scientific events organized by the team of the Department of Normal Anatomy of Belarusian State Medical University under the leadership of head of the department, Chairman of the Board of the Belarusian Scientific Society of Morphologists, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Natalia Trushel, were recognized by the International Federation of Associations of Anatomists (IFAA) as the most significant events in anatomical disciplines and were awarded publication in the leading international information publication Plexus.
The International Federation of Associations of Anatomists (IFAA), founded in 1903, is the main scientific organization of national and international anatomical associations, dealing with all aspects of anatomy and biomorphological sciences, including anatomical terminology, education, research, ethics and others. 56 anatomical associations of scientists from around the world are included in the IFAA, which was joined by the Belarusian Scientific Society of Morphologists in 2018.
Traditional for all anatomical associations that are members of the IFAA, there is an annual report on the work done, the exchange of experience, meaningful publications and significant scientific events. Of all the reports, the most outstanding are those contained in Plexus, which is a recognized as an invaluable source of information and knowledge for anatomists around the world. Plexus is the IFAA's open access newsletter designed for wide distribution of the relevant information in all anatomical disciplines.
Issues of this publication, as a rule, present the best and most current reports on the activities of anatomical associations, the most significant scientific achievements of recent years, include the most interesting new scientific data and the most informative publications on all aspects of anatomy.
A remarkable achievement was that of all the associations within the IFAA, the Belarusian Scientific Society of Morphologists was included in the top six ones in terms of significance and quality of scientific activity. It was noted that members of the Belarusian Scientific Society of Morphologists took an active part in several significant events dedicated to the International Anatomy Day, which is traditionally celebrated on the 15th of October every year all over the world. Under the leadership of the Chairman of the Board of the Belarusian Scientific Society of Morphologists, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Natalia Trushel, there had been organized and held the international scientific and practical conference “Current problems of morphology at the present stage”, dedicated to the 85th anniversary of Associate Professor Stanislav Yaroshevich, which took place on the 13th of October, 2023 at BSMU. The second significant event dedicated to World Anatomy Day was an exhibition-competition of anatomical drawing, organized for the 100th anniversary of the student scientific circle “Normal Anatomy” (Ars Anatomica). Thus, on this day, like no other, the Belarusian Scientific Society of Morphologists, headed by Professor Natalia Trushel, has the opportunity to note the importance of “Anatomy” as an academic discipline and show its important role in the training of specialists in the field of healthcare, thereby serving as an example for anatomists around the world.
We hope that the honorable international recognition of the activities of the Belarusian Scientific Society of Morphologists and the Department of Normal Anatomy of BSMU by the world community of anatomists, which is the International Federation of Associations of Anatomists, will inspire further cooperation, innovation and progress in our field.
