Development of international cooperation in the field of education: Iranian delegation at Belarusian State Medical University

On the 2nd of May, Belarusian State Medical University received a delegation headed by Hadi Goudarzi, Advisor on Science and the person in charge of the affairs of Iranian students in Russia, Belarus and Central Asia, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor. The meeting was attended by Rector of the university, Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Sergey Rubnikovich, Vice-Rector for International Relations, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Vasili Roudenok, Advisor to the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the Republic of Belarus Ali Seif, First Advisor of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the Republic of Belarus Bahareh Tavasoli.

This visit became an important milestone in the development of cooperation between the two countries in the field of medicine and science, and was supported by the Iranian Embassy in Belarus. The main purpose of Hadi Goodarzi’s visit was to discuss issues of cooperation concerning interaction in the field of medical education, training and admission of Iranian citizens to BSMU.

During the conversation, the Rector thanked Hadi Goodarzi for his visit and his contribution to the inclusion of BSMU into the list of universities approved by the Iranian side. In turn, the Iranian representatives emphasized the importance of BSMU compliance with all the conditions that were put forward by the Ministry of Health of the Islamic Republic of Iran as part of the admission campaign last year.

The Iranian Embassy in Belarus actively supports initiatives aimed at developing bilateral cooperation. During the visit, embassy representatives emphasized that strengthening of the ties in the field of medicine is not only a matter of professional exchange, but also an important step towards the improvement of mutual understanding between peoples.

Before the meeting with the students of the Medical Faculty of Foreign Students of BSMU, the honored guests got acquainted with the university and the anatomical museum. Also, in the laboratory building of Belarusian State Medical University students from the Islamic Republic of Iran organized an exhibition of drawings and photographs entitled “The Sense of Art”. The exhibition presents works reflecting the beauty and richness of the nature in Iran and Belarus.

Hadi Goudarzi met with students from Iran in a question-and-answer format. The event was attended by Vice-Rector for International Relations Vasili Roudenok, Dean of the Medical Faculty of Foreign Students Oleg Ishutin, Deputy Dean Elena Devina, Ms. Bahereh Tavassoli, Head of the Consular Department of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Belarus, Mr. Ali Seif, political expert of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Belarus, Mr. Hadi Goudarzi, scientific adviser to the Ministry of Science of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the Russian Federation, as well as curators of the community Svetlana Levashova and Alla Ermalovich. The meeting was opened by Oleg Ishutin, who made a speech about the training of Iranian students, noting the best ones and thanking them for their outstanding results in their studies. During the meeting, the students were interested in the issues of admission to BSMU after studying at the preparatory department in other universities of our country, issuing visas, invitations for students' relatives to come to Belarus, employment of junior students in medical institutions, options and conditions for admission to graduate school, etc. The meeting was held in a constructive and friendly atmosphere.

Hadi Goudarzi’s visit to BSMU was a significant event that opened new horizons for cooperation between Belarus and Iran. The parties agreed to coordinate any emerging issues with the Scientific Mission of Iran and the Embassy of this state in our country during the admissions campaign. It should be noted that the negotiations took place in a constructive business atmosphere.
