Medical activity of the department of Surgical Diseasess

Medical, diagnostic and advisory work of the department is carried out on the basis of surgical and intensive care departments of the Minsk Clinical Emergency Hospital.

Every year, the staff of the department performs 1000-1200 surgical interventions, including complex (about 20%) and high-tech operations (about 15%) (pyloric pancreatoduodenal resection, liver resection for tumors and parasitic pathology, laparoscopic liver resection, reconstructive operations on the bile ducts , cell transplantation operations) using modern equipment - mono- and bipolar coagulation “Soring”, electrosurgical generator “LigaSure”, ultrasonic harmonic scalpel “Accuson”, argon coagulator “ERBE”, cell-saver “CATS.

The full range of surgical interventions on the liver and biliary tract is used. In the process of experimental and clinical studies, a complex method of treating liver failure was developed and introduced into the clinic, a diagnostic and therapeutic algorithm for jaundice of various origins was developed (prof. Tretyak SI, prof. Kozyrev MA, associate professor Druzhinin V.I.). Modern medical technologies are used to diagnose various diseases of the liver, biliary tract, pancreas and spleen: NMR, CT, ultrasound, selective angiography, X-ray contrast studies of the extra- and intrahepatic biliary tract, radionuclide studies, puncture methods of research and treatment under the control of ultrasound and laparoscopy ( associate professors Kozlov V.G., Baranov E.V., Rashchinsky S.M.). Minimally invasive surgical interventions are widely introduced into clinical practice: laparoscopic treatment of gallbladder diseases (cholelithiasis, polyposis) and serous liver cysts, ultrasound-guided puncture of cysts and abscesses of the liver and pancreas, endoscopic interventions on the nipple of Vater (associate professors V.G. Kozlov, Baranov E.V., Rashinsky S.M., Bolshov A.V., Glinnik A.A.). On the basis of the Department of Surgical Hepatology, a transplant method is used to treat diabetes mellitus and hypothyroidism by transplanting the corresponding xenogenic cell transplants (prof. S. Tretyak, professor V. Y. Khryshchanovich). Methods of tension-free and laparoscopic hernioplasty, endoscopic subfascial dissection of perforating veins have been developed and used (Rashchinsky SM, associate professors Sinilo SB, Kozlov VG). Introduced into clinical practice a method of puncture and endovascular local administration of pathogenetic drugs in acute pancreatitis (prof. Tretyak SI, associate professors Baranov EV).

Provides advisory and operational assistance to patients with emergency surgical pathology. The staff of the department perform surgical interventions in case of an atypical and severe course of the disease, the development of postoperative complications. For the treatment of purulent-septic processes of soft tissues on the basis of the Central Scientific Research Laboratory of the Belarusian State Medical University, a detoxification tampon, a tampon-electrode, and an electrode-bandage have been developed, which made it possible to improve the results of treatment of patients with purulent-septic complications (associate professors Sinilo S.B., Kozlov V.G.).

Currently, the 2nd Department of Surgical Diseases is actively engaged in the development and implementation of modern methods of diagnosis and treatment of various surgical diseases, constantly improving the pedagogical process among students, trainees, graduate students and clinical residents. The staff of the department regularly improve their qualifications at thematic courses and scientific and practical conferences.
