At the Department of Orthopedic Dentistry and Orthodontics, the disciplines of "Maxillofacial Orthopedics and Orthopedic Dentistry," "Removable Prosthetics," and " Non-Removable Prosthetics," 31 staff members of the teaching faculty work at the Belarusian State Medical University (BSMU). Among them are 3 professors, 11 associate professors, 14 senior lecturers, and 3 assistants.
Within the scope of medical activities, the department engages in diagnostic, therapeutic, consultative, expert, preventive, and health education work.
The therapeutic, diagnostic, and consultative work is carried out by the faculty on the basis of the State Healthcare Institution "Republican Clinical Dental - University Clinic" and is regulated by:

The provision of therapeutic work proceeds in parallel and harmonious conjunction with the educational process, which requires additional explanations and clarifications of procedural correctness to students, forming the basis of practice-oriented education.
All professors are certified at the highest qualification level, associate professors hold the highest and first qualification levels. Regularly, all department staff undertake advanced training courses at various departments of the Institute for Advanced Training and Retraining of Healthcare Personnel of BSMU.
On Wednesdays from 9:00 to 12:00, consultations are held by professors I.I. GUNKO and S.V. IVASHENKO at the department. These professor's consultations are attended by teachers, clinical residents, and students.
On other weekdays, according to the schedule, consultations are conducted by associate professors A.I. GOLOVKO, M.A. BUNINA, A.P. DMYTROCHENKO, A.M. MATVEEV, P.A. STOZHAROV, P.L. TITOV, A.S. BORUNOV, S.N. PARCHAMOVICH, and A.A. OSTAPOVICH.
The entire teaching staff regularly provides highly qualified therapeutic and consultative assistance to students of the Belarusian State Medical University.
Over the past five years, the staff of the department have developed and had approved by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Belarus the following guidelines for the application of new methods of diagnosis and treatment in dentistry:
1. No. 129-1122 dated 21.02.2023 “Method for forming a gingival cuff in the area of dental implant placement” (author A.I. Golovko).
2. No. 016-0223 dated 15.05.2023 “Method of prosthetics for patients with partial edentulism with load distribution on dental implants” (author A.I. Golovko).
3. No. 029-0423 dated 15.05.2023 “Method of virtual positioning of dental implants in planning the surgical stage of upper jaw edentulism treatment” (authors T.L. Shevela, S.L. Kabak, Yu.M. Melnichenko, R.S. Mekhtiev, G.M. Karapetyan, I.I. Kosik, N.A. Prokhorchik).
4. No. 040-0523 dated 29.09.2023 “Method for treatment of tooth crown defects using a fiber-glass post support with load splitter” (authors E.A. Tyukova, S.N. Parkhamovich).
More than 70 acts of implementation of these developments into the educational process and practical healthcare of the healthcare institutions of the Republic of Belarus have been obtained.
The department’s staff provide highly qualified orthopedic dental care to the residents of the Republic of Belarus corresponding to 0.75 of a full-time equivalent position of a prosthodontist dentist.
On average, more than 20,000 patient visits related to orthopedic dental care are registered annually with the department’s staff.
Each year, the department staff conduct about 8,000 patient consultations from all regions of the Republic of Belarus.
More than 1,500 units of fixed dental prostheses and over 600 units of removable prostheses are fabricated annually.
The department’s staff actively participate in commissions established by the orders of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Belarus and the Health Committee of the Minsk City Executive Committee (covering more than 60% of citizen requests concerning dental care provision).
Monthly, the department holds meetings summarizing treatment work results, inviting the chief physician of the polyclinic, the head of the orthopedic department, and the head of the dental laboratory production.
Regularly (3–4 times a month), clinical conferences on relevant issues of orthopedic dentistry are conducted with participation of the department’s staff and prosthodontist dentists of the polyclinic.
The following treatment and preventive institutions of Minsk city are assigned to the department: State Healthcare Institution “Republican Clinical Dental - University Clinic,” the 3rd City Dental Polyclinic of Minsk, the 4th City Clinical Dental Polyclinic, 5th City Dental Polyclinic, 7th City Dental Polyclinic, 8th Clinical Dental Polyclinic, 11th City Clinical Dental Polyclinic, 12th City Clinical Dental Polyclinic, 13th City Dental Polyclinic, 14th City Dental Polyclinic, 17th City Clinical Polyclinic, and 30th City Clinical Polyclinic.
In these polyclinics, the department’s staff provide consultative assistance in the diagnosis and treatment of the most complicated patients.
