Research work (RW) is an integral part of the department's activity. During the first years after the department was established main efforts of its employees were aimed at the organization of the educational process and methodical work, finishing of the research begun earlier, as well as at the research on the improvement and implementation of dispensarization and methods of medical rehabilitation of patients primarily with rheumatic diseases.
Also during those years, associate professor R.V. Khursa R.V. (together with V.M. Chebotarev, who previously worked at the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Belarus) began the development of the original method of the quantitative analysis of systemic parameters of blood pressure (QASPBP) which is being actively developed further and improved to this day.
In 2004-2008, research work on the topic “Early diagnosis, prediction and differentiated therapy of hypertension in outpatient settings” was approved and successfully completed.
In 2009, 2 BPLab devices for 24h ambulatory blood pressure monitoring were received by the department as a scientific project competition grant announced by LLC “Pyotr Telegin” (Russia), the devices are being actively used in research.
In 2011-2015, research work on the topic “Early diagnosis of disorders of adaptation of the organism and the possibilities of their correction in outpatient therapeutic practice” and in 2016-2020 on the topic “Early diagnosis of disorders of adaptation of the organism and the possibilities of their correction in outpatient therapeutic practice” was approved and successfully completed, all of the teachers of the department participated in the research.
The 2020-2024 research work topic of the department is “To improve methods of outpatient treatment and dispensary surveillance of patients with hypertension and comorbidity considering the hemodynamic phenotype”.
Many lecturers simultaneously conduct research within their area of interest:
studying the quality of life of patients using standardized questionnaires, adaptation of the organism in various therapeutic diseases using screening techniques, hemodynamic studies, problems of osteoporosis, patient adherence to treatment, etc.
For the further development and use of the QASPBP method (linear regression of blood pressure parameters for functional diagnostics of hemodynamics) the department carries out extensive scientific cooperation with various departments of BSMU, therapeutic departments of Vitebsk and Grodno medical universities, BSUFC, Republican and Minsk regional sports dispensaries, the Institute of Physics of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Belarus, etc.
The lecturers of the department regularly take part in the organization and work of congresses, conferences, seminars and report the results of research work at scientific forums, including international ones.
More than 600 articles and abstracts, methodic recommendations, tutorials and teaching aids for doctors, method instructions have been published.
The main directions of research work of the department:
- early diagnosis of hemodynamic disorders and hypertension in young people in outpatient practice;
- early diagnosis of disorders of adaptation of the organism and the possibilities of their correction in outpatient therapeutic practice;
- quality of life of patients with various diseases;
- atient adherence to long-term treatment and its relation to the treatment outcome;
- further development of the method of the quantitative analysis of systemic parameters of blood pressure (QASPBP);
- psychotherapy of psychosomatic diseases and disorders;
- treatment of functional gastrointestinal tract disorders;
- hypertension and comorbidities
All the research carried out at the department is practice-oriented, therefore, it is devoted to topics relevant to primary care and is based on diagnostic methods available in outpatient healthcare facilities. Many scientific and practical works were introduced into the practice of practical healthcare institutions.
