History of Outpatient Therapy

The need to create a department was caused by the transformation of the medical and pediatric faculties into a medical and preventive faculty, the introduction of new curricula and programs, as well as the fact that the practice of classes with subordinators of therapists and pediatricians in polyclinics, which was carried out by teachers of the departments of internal medicine and childhood diseases, could not provide sufficient training for graduates to work in outpatient settings. Since the teachers did not have a permanent workplace in polyclinics, and only occasionally consulted patients there, it was impossible to properly control the work of subordinators with doctors, and practical exercises were often “excursion” in nature. Therefore, by order of the Minsk State Medical Institute (No. 97-0 of April 7, 1994), on August 25, 1994, the department of polyclinic training was opened, which included a course of polyclinic pediatrics (for teaching students of the pediatric faculty).

The staff of the department consisted of five teachers who were previously employees of the departments of internal diseases of the Minsk State Medical Institute: 2nd (associate professor, Ph.D. Zyusenkov M.V. - head of the department, assistants - Ph.D. Khursa R.V. and Ph.D. Turonok T.N.) and 3rd (associate professor Ph.D. Lemeshev A.F. and assistant Ph.D. Sakharchuk V.P.).

In 1997, the course of polyclinic pediatrics was detached, and the department of polyclinic training was merged with the department of medical rehabilitation and physiotherapy. The new teachers of the united department of outpatient training, medical rehabilitation and physiotherapy were: professor, MD. Bagel G.E., Associate Professor, Candidate of Medical Sciences Kalenchits T.I., assistants, Candidate of Medical Sciences Rysevets E.V., Malkevich L.A., postgraduate student Cherkas T.E.

Thus, in certain periods of the department's existence, its structure and name changed several times, which was reflected in its names in 1998-2002.

Since August 2002 the independence of the department of medical rehabilitation and physiotherapy was restored, and the department of polyclinic training was renamed into the department of polyclinic therapy, which was headed by Khursa R.V., who by that time had become an associate professor. The teachers of the department during this period were: who has already become a professor, Doctor of Medical Sciences. Zyuzenkov M.V., associate professor Lemeshev A.F., assistants Turonok T.N., Yakovleva E.V., Romanenko Z.V., Mesnikova I.L., Koveshnikova T.A., Eremina N.M., Korzun N.N. The department also included two leading laboratory assistants Shibaeva Z.V. and Zabelo E.I., laboratory assistant Shibaeva E.N.

In the first years of the department's existence, the main efforts of the staff were aimed at organizing the educational process and methodological work.

Clinical bases were carefully selected, on which it would be possible to organize full-fledged training of students: first, 4, then 5 polyclinics in Minsk, with which agreements on cooperation have been concluded, fruitfully continuing to this day: polyclinics No. 1, 3, 6, 32 and 34.
