At each clinical base of the department medical and consulting work is carried out in accordance with cooperation agreements with outpatient clinics.
The staff of the department consult patients in difficult and diagnostically unclear cases, provide urgent consultations, take part in conciliums, do the rounds in day care unit; supervise 6th year students who see patients at home.
The lecturers of the department also provide organizational and methodical assistance to practical healthcare: they read lectures for doctors on current issues of internal medicine, conduct patient schools, participate in the expertise and analysis of medical documentation, internship supervision and methodical support.
In addition to the main clinical bases, a number of other city outpatient clinics are assigned to each of the lecturers of the department for consultations assistance: “7th city polyclinic” (Khursa R.V.); “30th city polyclinic” (Zyuzenkov M.V.); “11th city polyclinic” (Yakauleva A.V.); “13th city polyclinic” and “33rd city student polyclinic” (Mesnikova I.L.); “4th city polyclinic” (Ratkevich I.M.); “35th city polyclinic” (Zhuravkov Yu.L.); “16th city clinical polyclinic” (Aliakseyeva A.S.); “29th city polyclinic” (Eremina N.M.).
The lecturers of the department are also assigned consultants of the districts of Minsk: professor Zyuzenkov M.V. - Sovetsky district, associate professor Yakovleva E.V. - Leninsky district, associate professor Mesnikova I.L. - Oktyabrsky district.
Lecturers of the department (Zyuzenkov M.V., Khursa R.V., Yakovleva E.V., Eremina N.M., Mesnikova I.L.) are consultants of the Professorial Consulting Center of the BSMU, the schedule of consultations is located on the BSMU website.

All teachers of the department have the highest medical qualification categories.
Teachers, together with students, actively participate in city health fairs held in the city's polyclinics in accordance with the order of the Minsk City Health Committee.
The results of scientific research of the department are actively introduced into medical practice.
The staff of the department is involved in the promotion of medical knowledge in the media: they appear on television, on the radio, in medical periodicals.
Diagnostic manipulations performed by the staff of the department:
- abdominal ultrasound;
- Holter monitoring, 24h blood pressure monitoring, bicycle ergometry;
- diagnostics of latent disorders and individual characteristics of hemodynamics using the quantitative analysis of systemic parameters of blood pressure (QASPBP), developed and implemented by the staff of the department;
- assessment of the quality of life of patients with various diseases using standardized international questionnaires and the functional status of patients with rheumatological diseases;
- assessment of the state of adaptation of the organism;
- heart rate variability;
- various rheographic diagnostic methods.
