Ideological and educational work at the department is carried out in accordance with the approved plan and basic documents for conducting ideological and educative work in the student collective.
Main directions of work:
- formation of professional and labor competencies;
- education of citizenship and patriotism;
- mastering the values and skills of a healthy lifestyle, ecological culture;
- preparation for independent living and work, development of leadership skills;
- formation of moral, ethical and aesthetic culture;
- formation of a culture of family relations;
- creating conditions for socialization, self-development and self-realization for the person;
- fostering a culture of leisure and everyday life.
To achieve these goals, the teaching staff and students are tasked with the following tasks: fostering civic competence, patriotism, national identity, respect for universal values, tolerance of dissent, tolerance, humanity; inclusion with universal and national values, the formation of ethical and aesthetic culture; development of leadership competencies and managerial culture as important aspects becoming a professionally successful personality; formation of knowledge, skills, and abilities in the field of social and interpersonal relations, psychological culture, and communicative competencies; provision of conditions for the development of students' creative abilities and self-determination, self-realization, self-knowledge, and self-development of personality; formation of readiness to preserve mental and physical health, safe living skills, and highlighting of the values of the institution of marriage and family; organization of educational activities students have competencies in the field of household, cultural and leisure activities, moral, ethical and aesthetic culture.
Ideological and civic-patriotic education
The purposeful work of the faculty of the department contributes to the education of an active civic position among students and a sense of patriotism. Every month, unified awareness days and information hours are held in student groups, as well as conversations about respect for the national culture, traditions of the Belarusian people, and culture of other peoples and nationalities. Much attention is paid to informing students about the most important events in the country and abroad, explaining the provisions of the state domestic and foreign policy, and the specifics of the socio-economic development of Belarus.
Ethical, moral, family and gender education
The education of students' moral culture is carried out through the study of medical ethics and deontology. Discussions are held in groups on the following topics: "Internal and external image of a doctor"; "Ethics and deontology in the work of a doctor"; "A doctor is a noble profession"; "Ethics and culture of interpersonal communication of a medical worker".
The department constantly carries out work aimed at forming a value attitude towards the family as the basis of the Belarusian society. Educational hours are held in groups on the following topics: "Formation of relationships between boys and girls"; "Traditions of family education"; "Formation of cultural family relations, gender culture".
Legal education, preventive work
As part of legal education, students are introduced to Order No. 466 dated 08/31/2017 On the establishment of uniform requirements for the appearance of students, teachers and staff of BSMU departments, students are told about the Law of the Republic of Belarus dated 07/20/2006 No. 165-3 "On Combating Corruption".
Teachers of the department visit student hostels. At the same time, attention is focused on compliance with the rules of conduct in the student dormitory, careful attitude to state property. In the training sessions, the same is promoted for educational materials, visual teaching aids, great attention is paid to academic discipline, regular attendance at lectures and practical classes, fire-fighting activities, etc.
Labor, professional, and economic education
In professional and labor education, special attention is paid to the formation of a high level of independent cognitive activity among students. Students take an active part in the work of the student scientific club at the department, in the scientific student conference of students and young scientists, in the university competition, up to 4-5 student articles are sent to the Republican review competition every year.
Discussions are held in groups on the following topics: "A doctor is a noble profession"; "Me and my future profession (career)", "Education and science are the driving forces of economic growth", etc.
Fostering a culture of healthy lifestyle and safe living
In each student group, during a series of practical classes in otorhinolaryngology, the teacher conducts a conversation about the dangers of smoking and alcohol, in particular, special attention is paid to the effect of smoking on the risk of developing malignant tumors of the larynx. Lectures are read out and group discussions are held on such topics as: "A healthy nation is a strong nation"; "Toxic and drug addiction" (the state of the problem among young people), "Negative consequences of smoking mixtures", "HIV infection. The state of the problem in the world and the Republic of Belarus".
Education of the culture of everyday life and leisure, aesthetic education
Discussions are held in groups on the following topics: "Dialogue of cultures", "Traditions and culture of different countries of the world". Throughout the academic year, teachers of the department visit student hostels according to the schedule, hold conversations about topical issues of student life:
- compliance with the rules of conduct in the student hostels;
- culture in relationships with each other and in society;
- about fire safety measures;
- about the careful attitude of state property;
- about the organization of everyday life when living in a student dormitory.
Educational work issues are regularly considered at meetings of the department staff. The deputy head of the department of educational work announces the materials of the unified awareness days, submits a plan for educational work for approval and reports on the work done at the end of the school year.
The staff of the Department of Otorhinolaryngology oversees the dormitory, providing students with medical, moral, and pedagogical assistance, if necessary, explaining the basic rights and obligations of students within the framework of the current law of the Republic of Belarus.
