Students scientific group of Otolaryngology with a course of retraining and advanced training

The Student scientific group at the Department of Ear, Throat and Nose Diseases was created in the 60s of the last century, when the department was headed by Professor N.P. Kniga.

When the department was headed by Professor V.Ya. Gapanovich, disparate groups of student-researchers were united and the scientific topics of the group were developed. Special attention was paid to cryogenic methods of treatment of ENT pathology. Associate Professor G.D. Konovalchikov a responsible for this work.

From 2000 to 2010, the Student scientific group was led by Associate Professor E.P. Merkulov, scientific topics were supplemented by research in the field of pathology of ENT organs in children. In 2010-2012. the group was led by an assistant K.N. Ustinovich.

From 2012 to the present, the scientific leader of the group is associate professor of the department O.I. Rodionova.

The participation of students in the work of a scientific group increases interest in the specialty and stimulates them to independent research activities.

From the first days of the club's foundation, students worked on the following topics:

  • klebsiellosis in otorhinolaryngology;
  • cryogenic methods of treatment of ENT pathology;
  • conservative and surgical methods of treatment of ENT organ pathology in adults and children.

Currently, the main areas of work of the group are:

  • oncopathology of ENT organs,
  • pathology of the lymphoepithelial pharyngeal ring in adults and children,
  • emergency conditions for the pathology of ENT organs,
  • chronic diseases of the middle ear in childhood,
  • pathology of the nose and paranasal sinuses,
  • ENT aspects of HIV infection,
  • modern technologies in the diagnosis and treatment of ENT pathology.

Basic forms of work:

  • preparation, report and discussion of a scientific report on a given topic at a meeting of the group,
  • demonstration and discussion of thematic patients,
  • independent work with medical documentation and patients as part of the preparation of scientific work,
  • presentation and defense of the research work topic at student and other scientific conferences,
  • publication of the results of research work in scientific journals.

Every year, students take part in student and other scientific conferences (8-10 reports), as well as works are successfully presented at competitions of scientific works of students of higher educational institutions of the Republic of Belarus.
