A method for modeling venous thrombosis was developed in an experiment (Baeshko A. A., Korsak S. I., Markauzan P. V., Chaika Yu.A), protected by the patent of the Republic of Belarus, which allowed us to approach the study of changes in the vein wall and blood clot in the early stage at the ultrastructural level and justify a number of new concepts in the development of this pathology.

More than 600 works have been published, including 5 monographs and more than 200 journal articles, 2 patents, 2 copyright certificates, and 20 research proposals have been obtained.

The scientific research of the department is clinical and focuses on the study of such important problems as venous diseases (varicose veins of the lower extremities, thrombosis and thromboembolism of the pulmonary artery, congenital anomalies of the inferior vena cava), acute intestinal ischemia (etiology, access to the superior mesenteric artery), injuries of the main vessels (improvement of surgical tactics and access), penetrating wounds of the heart (optimization of the technique of suturing the heart muscle).

At the initiative of the department, within the framework of the international exhibition «Healthcare of Belarus 2002», a scientific and practical seminar on the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of pulmonary embolism was held, at which staff and graduate students made presentations.

The relevance and priority of scientific research of the department is evidenced by their international recognition – 56 foreign conferences (including European and international venous and angiological forums and congresses), at which 75 reports were made.

Since 1990, the Department defended 7 theses, including one on competition of a scientific degree of the doctor of medical Sciences

  • Baeshko AA – prevention and treatment of postoperative deep vein thrombosis of the lower extremities, Moscow – 1996; scientific consultants: M. D., Professor Rustle, G. P., MD, Professor A. G. Hook) 6 of dissertations on competition of a scientific degree of candidate of medical Sciences:
  • Korsak S. I. – «Assessment of thrombogenicity artificial heart valve «Planiks», Minsk, 1999; scientific supervisor of the doctor of medical Sciences, Professor A. G. Hook
  • Yakhnovets I. A. - «Comparative evaluation of various types of vena cava prostheses in an experiment (experimental study)», Grodno-2002; supervisor: Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Baeshko A. A.
  • Markautsan P. V. - «Structural organization of the vein wall in the case of slowing blood flow and thrombosis in an experiment», Minsk-2004; supervisor: Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Baeshko A. A.
  • Popchenko A. L. - «Optimization of treatment tactics for varicose veins of the lower extremities on the basis of duplex scanning data», Grodno-2005; supervisor: Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Baeshko A. A.
  • Yushkevich A.V. - «Justification and comparative evaluation of various types of suture material in penetrating heart injury», Minsk-2007; scientific supervisor: Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Baeshko A. A.

In addition, at the final stage, the dissertation works of 1 applicant and one graduate student.

The results of scientific research are implemented in the educational process at the department, the related departments of BSMU-human anatomy, general Surgery and surgical diseases, as well as the Departments of Bel MAPO – clinical surgery, the course of operative surgery and topographic anatomy.

Development of international professional cooperation by the department of operative surgery and topographic anatomy of bsmu

International professional cooperation between the Department of Operative Surgery and Topographic Anatomy of BSMU and related departments of Russian medical universities is actively developing.

The head of the department, Professor S. D. Denisov, is included in the All-Russian Educational and Methodological Commission on Topographic Anatomy and Operative Surgery, as well as in the editorial board of the journal «Operative Surgery and Clinical Anatomy».

At the last meeting of the educational and methodological commission, held at Sechenov University in late September, such topical issues as the use of a rating system for evaluating students ' knowledge, teaching the anatomy of a living person were discussed.

The meeting of the methodological commission was part of the program of the 10th International Symposium on clinical and Applied anatomy, which brought together specialists from all over the world. The vast majority of the reports of the symposium, which was held for 6 days, were devoted to the latest technologies of teaching clinical anatomy, as well as scientific achievements in the field of topographic anatomy and operative surgery. Much attention is paid to the development of 3D technologies, the use of the results of in vivo research methods-endoscopy, ultrasound diagnostics, tomography.

International symposium on venous disease (New York, spring 2014) - participation of professor A. A. Baeshko

Head of the Department of Operative Surgery and Topographic Anatomy, Professor A. A. Baeshko and 6th-year student of the Faculty of Medicine N. G. Shestak once again visited America on a scientific mission (previously a participant of the XYII World Congress of Phlebologists, Boston, September 2013, read the full article in the newspaper «Medical Bulletin», No. 52 (1147), December 26, 2013. Category: Modern approach Newspaper Archive.

The symposium brought together mainly practitioners from the United States and Europe - general and vascular surgeons, dermatologists, specialists in radiation diagnostics, cardiac surgeons, doctors of interventional methods of treatment. In our field, phlebology, there are many innovations - for example, in the treatment of veins affected by the disease, we have already begun to use a special cyanacrylic glue, increasingly moving away from the radical operations that have been relevant for the last 100 years.

«But New York was also interesting to me as an ordinary traveler. What is it, the capital of the world, at the level of everyday life, cultural?» - says A. A. Baeshko and share his impressions with the readers of the newspaper «S B».
