The department trains students of medical, pediatric, military medical faculties and the medical faculty of foreign students. The discipline is taught in 5th and 6th courses.
Clinical bases of the department are «4th city clinical hospital named after N.Ye.Savchenko», «11th city clinical hospital», «9th city clinical hospital», «6th city clinical hospital», «23rd city polyclinic».
Classes are conducted by highly qualified teachers: head of the department, associate professor L.A. Malkevich, professor, MD V.G. Kryuchok, associate professors T.I. Kalenchits, E.V. Rysevets, assistants S.M. Koshina, A.I. Ustinova, Yu.O. Liskovskaya, E.D. Vasilevich, O.O. Cheshyk.
The main purpose of training at the department is to receive by students of 5, 6 courses of medical, pediatric, military medical faculties and the medical faculty of foreign students deep and solid knowledge of physiotherapy and medical rehabilitation. To do this, associate professors of the department give lectures, which are conducted using multimedia presentations and demonstration of educational films.
A detailed analysis and consolidation of the theoretical material obtained at the lectures, the formation of professional skills and practical skills is carried out in practical classes, which are carried out in the form of cycle classes.
During the cycle, students, together with the teacher, examine thematic patients, examining clinical cases, participate in consultations and joint examinations, and are present during diagnostic and therapeutic manipulations.
In the 5th year, more attention is paid to general issues of physiotherapy and medical rehabilitation. In the 6th year, more attention is paid to particular issues of physiotherapy and medical rehabilitation of patients with neurological, cardiological, pulmonological, traumatological and orthopedic profile. Classes are held in the departments of medical rehabilitation, physiotherapy, neurological and cardiological departments of the clinical bases of the department. Some physiotherapy classes are held on the basis of the Republican Center for Medical Rehabilitation and Balneotherapy. Particular attention is paid to the rehabilitation of patients after organ and tissue transplantation.
The quality of preparing students for classes is controlled both by oral questioning and by using tests and situational tasks, control written works and clinical analysis of patients. After the students pass through the cycles of medical rehabilitation and physiotherapy at the department meetings, the results of training are summed up with an analysis of progress.
To improve the assimilation of knowledge by students, the department has methodological developments and tests.
At the beginning of each cycle, teachers conduct a conversation about the need to comply with the sanitary-epidemic and medical-protective regime in the hospital, the rules for communicating with patients and staff.
The department uses various types and forms of educational and methodological work: lectures, practical exercises using methods of enhancing the cognitive activity of students and an individual approach to teaching young specialists, student conferences, visual demonstration material (slides, tables, videos). This contributes to the acquisition of knowledge and skills by doctors aimed at early diagnosis and timely adequate treatment of various pathologies.
