In the 2024-25 academic year, scientific work with students is carried out in the format of meetings of the student scientific group and individual work of students with teachers on selected topics of scientific papers. Meetings are held offline at the clinical sites of the department. From time to time, the SSG invites SSG s of other departments to cooperate, and is especially active in interacting with the Department of Operative Surgery and Topographic Anatomy. Students-members of the SSG, as well as young and experienced doctors of various surgical specialties, act as lecturers.
One of the forms of additional education within the framework of Student scientific groups in BSMU are master-classes of department teachers and invited experts. In particular, in the 2023-2024 academic year, a master-class “Fundamentals of surgical technique” has already been held (associate Professor A.I. Lemeshevsky), event received many positive reviews from the participants. Other events of a similar nature are planned.
In 2025 General Surgery department hosted English section of the International Conference of Students and Young Scientists for the first time!
