The first winner of the Rolf Grewe award in Belarus...
The Rolf Grewe Award for the best scientific abstract presented by participants from Central and Eastern European countries was given at the Congress of the German Society of Ophthalmologists DOG2024. The international forum was held in Berlin from the 10th to the 13th of October.
The first winner of the Rolf Grewe award in Belarus was Yuliya Huseva - ophthalmologist of the highest category, Associate Professor of the Department of Normal Anatomy of Belarusian State Medical University, Candidate of Medical Sciences. She presented scientific reports “Can the lamina cribrosa of sclera perform as a biomarker for diagnosing optic neuropathy?” and “Morphological beneficence of the lamina cribrosa of sclera as a risk factor and potential target in promotion for survival optic nerve axons”. The work is devoted to the study of the relationship between the connective tissue structures of the lamina cribrosa of the sclera and the axons of the optic nerve in the light of their role in the pathogenesis of optic neuropathies and their diagnosis.
By the way, this award was established in memory of Dr. Rolf Grewe, who devoted almost half of his life to cooperation with the countries of Eastern Europe, in particular, helping ophthalmologists from Central and Eastern Europe to organize continuous professional training and scientific exchange.
The Council of the German Society of Ophthalmologists, awarding the Rolf Grewe Award to Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor Yuliya Huseva, emphasized her active participation in the Congress of the German Society of Ophthalmologists DOG, as well as her a long-term contribution to cooperation with Eastern European countries.
