Visit of a delegation from Jiangxi University of Chinese Medicine

On the 12^th of June, a delegation from the People's Republic of China, headed by Professor Zhu Weifeng, Rector of Jiangxi University of Chinese Medicine, visited Belarusian State Medical University.

The delegation of Jiangxi University of Chinese Medicine was represented by: Professor Yang Changxin, Director of the Office of International Exchange and Cooperation,; Professor Chi Zhenhai, Vice Dean of the School of Traditional Chinese Medicine; Professor Huang Xianbao, Deputy Chief TCM Physician and Associate Director of the Second Department of Acupuncture and Moxibustion, the Affiliated Hospital of Jiangxi University of Chinese Medicine; Mr. Yu Hao, Lecturer of the Publicity Department.

From the side of BSMU, the meeting was attended by the Rector of the university, corresponding member of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Sergei Rubnikovich, Vice-Rector for International Relations Dmitry Chuikov, Dean of the Pharmaceutical Faculty, Professor, Doctor of Biological Sciences Natalia Gurina, head of the Reflexology Department, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Alexander Sivakov, and also Associate Professor of the Department of Medical Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine with a course for advanced training and retraining, Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor Elena Sushchenya.

The key event of the visit was the signing of an agreement on academic and scientific cooperation and exchange.

An important symbol of the visit was the commemorative entry by the Rector of the Jiangxi University of Chinese Medicine in the Book of Honorary Guests of Belarusian State Medical University:

After visiting the laboratory of the Faculty of Pharmacy and reviewing the medicinal plant bank, the parties discussed promising areas of cooperation.

The main focus was made on the implementation of joint projects in the pharmaceutical field and the research of medicinal plants.

The delegation also visited healthcare institution "Polyclinic of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus", where the experts from Jiangxi University of Chinese Medicine held a master class on acupuncture and moxibustion and participated in the opening ceremony of the China-Belarus Center for Traditional Chinese and Integrative Medicine.

At the event, Belarusian State Medical University was represented by Alexander Sivakov, Head of the Reflexology Department; Lyudmila Malkevich, Head of the Department of Medical Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine with Advanced Training and Retraining, PhD, Associate Professor; and Elena Sushchenya, Associate Professor of the Department of Medical Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine with advanced training and retraining.

This collaboration will combine the extensive experience of our Chinese colleagues in traditional medicine with the scientific potential of BSMU, opening up new opportunities for integrating traditional Chinese and Western medicine.
