The Dean and students of the Faculty of Medicine took part in events dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the oncological services of the Voronezh region

“Traditions and innovations of oncological medical care”. Such was the topic of the All-Russian Scientific and Practical Conference with international participation, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of oncological services of Voronezh region. The forum was held on the 11th-13th of December in Voronezh.

In addition to the plenary session of the conference, the work of sections was organized in which specialists exchanged experience in treating various types of oncological pathologies. The co-chairman of the section of thoracoabdominal oncology was Dean of the Faculty of Medicine of Belarusian State Medical University, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor Mikhail Revtovich. His report “Modern approach to predicting metachronous peritoneal dissemination after radical treatment of gastric cancer” aroused genuine interest among foreign colleagues.

And the continuation of the theoretical part of the forum was master classes on various sections of oncology surgery, given by leading surgeons of the Russian Federation.

The program of anniversary events also included the “Winter School of Oncology,” held under the patronage of Voronezh State Medical University named after N. N. Burdenko. The first day was marked by reports and lectures, the authors of which were eminent and venerable doctors practicing in the field of oncology and teaching at universities, which participate in the conference. A lecture on the topic “Intra-abdominal perfusion thermochemotherapy in the complex treatment of infiltrative forms of gastric cancer” for students of medical higher educational institutions and clinical residents invited to participate in the “Winter School of Oncology” was given by Doctor of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor Mikhail Revtovich. It received an active response, as evidenced by numerous questions from listeners and discussions at the end of the lecturer's speech.

The lecture by Dean of the Medical Faculty of the leading medical university of Belarus was also listened to by his “pupils” Alexander Larionets (group 1531) and Pavel Zdanovich (group 1609). By the way, future doctors from BSMU presented their report at a competition for young scientists, the topic of which was “A case of proximal gastric resection for cancer with situs viscerum inversus totalis” (scientific supervisor - Mikhail Revtovich), awarded the IInd degree diploma by the authoritative jury. This significant award for students was presented to them by the chief freelance oncologist of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, academician of the Russian Academy of Education, Honored Doctor of Russia, General Director of the Federal State Budgetary Institution "National Medical Research Center of Radiology" of the Ministry of Health, laureate of the Government Prize of the Russian Federation in the field of science and technology, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Andrey Kaprin and the chief oncologist of the Voronezh region, head of the Department of Oncology of Voronezh State Medical University named after N. N. Burdenko, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Ivan Moshurov.

The participants of the celebrations were also given a tour around Voronezh State Medical University, during which they became acquainted with the activities of one of the oldest medical universities in Russia.
