Belarusian State Medical University in international rankings

Participation in international ranking systems of universities around the world is one of the areas of strategic development of Belarusian State Medical University, which allows the leading institution of higher medical education to be included into the international educational environment, harmonize educational and research processes with international rules and standards in the educational field. The result of active work in this direction was an increase in the university’s position in a number of leading international rankings.

Belarusian State Medical University has received decent performance indicators in two international rating systems: in the largest academic ranking of higher educational institutions in the world Ranking Web of Universities (Webometrics Ranking of World Universities), in the international search engine of higher education and directory.

According to the Ranking Web of Universities (Webometrics Ranking of World Universities), as of September 2024, among the Belarusian universities, BSMU is among the top ten and takes an honorable fifth place, competing only with non-medical institutions of higher education in the country, reaching 3270 place in the global ranking of universities. Among medical universities of Belarus, Belarusian State Medical University maintains a leading (first) position in the ranking. According to the latest data from the Webometrics Ranking of World Universities, during the period from 2017 to 2024, the position of BSMU in the world doubled from 7313 to 3270 places.

In addition to the Belarusian State Medical University, the Times Higher Education World University Rankings (THE) include seven institutions of higher education in Belarus.

In the EduRank ranking, BSMU takes 3709 place out of 14131.

In the UniRank (Australia) ranking, Belarusian State Medical University is in 2213 place out of 14,013 world universities.

In the Scimago Institutions Rankings, SIR (Spain), BSMU takes 3750 place out of 4762 universities in the world.

In addition, Belarusian State Medical University is represented in the Moscow international ranking “Three Missions of the University” - a global ranking of higher educational institutions, developed by the Association of Compilers of Russian Rankings with the participation of the international association IREG Observatory on Academic Ranking and Excellence.

The leading medical university of Belarus is also registered on the website of the World Directory of Medical Schools under the auspices of the World Health Organization. There had been created a profile of Belarusian State Medical University in the QS Top University ranking.

Achieving set goals, leading positions of the leading institution of higher medical education in Belarus in international rankings, activity in the international arena, high appreciation of recognized world universities and scientific organizations, - all this confirm the professionalism of BSMU in the field of international cooperation, which in turn helps to increase the attractiveness of obtaining higher medical education among foreign citizens at Belarusian State Medical University and, accordingly, increase the export of educational services .
