The planning and organization of the educational process at the department is carried out on the basis of standard and educational plans, standard and educational curriculums, educational standards, class schedules and other documents regulating the educational process.
Classes with students are carried out in following specialties:
- 1 79 01 01 «General Medicine» (specialization 1 79 01 01 01 «Military Medicine») (3-4 years of study), including classes in English;
- 1 79 01 02 «Pediatrics» (3-4 years);
- 1 79 01 03 «Preventive medicine» (4th year);
- 1 79 01 07 «Dentistry» (3-4 years), including classes in English.
Classes with subordinators are carried out:
- In obstetrics and gynecology - in the discipline «Dermatovenereology (section «Venereology») - 6th year, «General Medicine», for Faculty of General Medicine;
- Oncology - in the discipline «Dermatovenereology» - 6th year, «General Medicine», for Faculty of General Medicine
- General medical practice - in the discipline «Dermatovenereology» - 6th year, «General Medicine» for Medical faculty for international students, including classes in English.
Also, since 2008, the department has been teaching an elective course «Urgent conditions in dermatovenerology» for the 6th year of the faculties of General Medicine and Pediatrics, since 2013 - an elective course «Particular matters of practical dermatocosmetology» for the 6th year of the faculty of General Medicine
To ensure the educational process, inpatient and outpatient departments are used, including two branches of the Minsk Municipal Clinical Skin and Venereal Dispensary, as well as laboratories (clinical, bacteriological and serological) of the dispensary.
Patient management is carried out mainly in hospital (inpatient) departments, where diagnostic techniques and clinical skills are practiced. Educational outpatient reception is carried out in the consultation room of the Minsk Municipal Clinical Skin and Venereal Dispensary, doctors' offices of the outpatient department of the dispensary and two of its branches.
Students have the opportunity to attend the consultations of the head of the department, professors and associate professors in the consulting rooms of the Republican Consultative Center for Dermatology and Venereology.
Technical teaching aids used:
- audiovisualization of educational material (films on DVD: «Mycoses», «Professional dermatoses», «Changes in the oral mucosa in skin and venereal diseases», «Acne», «Bacterial vaginosis», 3 educational films on syphilis);
- lecturing with multimedia support (the entire lecture course of the department has been translated into multimedia presentations);
- current certification of students' knowledge using testing (on paper and electronic);
- creation of elective courses for students;
- use of electronic atlases, situational tasks (clinical cases) on practical classes.
Electronic Training, learning and instructional sets in MOODLE software shell in dermatovenerology have been created for students and subordinators of all faculties studying at the department, including classes in English.
Control of the educational process includes:
- daily monitoring of students' attendance at lectures and practical classes;
- daily check of students' readiness for practical classes: control of mastering of certain topics and sections by disciplines (by oral questioning and testing);
- control and assessment of students' knowledge on exams and tests.
Routes of priority for improving the work of the department of Skin and Venereal Diseases:
- Updating curricula, lectures, preparing new teaching aids for practical training in accordance with the requirements of state general educational standards and qualification characteristics of specialists.
- Further implementation of innovative forms and methods of teaching.
- Deepening the interaction of the department with other clinical departments of the Belarusian State Medical University, Belarusian Academy of Postgraduate medical Training, etc. in order to improve the quality of theoretical and practical training of students.
