The Department of Public Health and Healthcare conducts training of students enrolled in the specialties: “General Medicine”, “Pediatrics”, “Preventive Medicine”, “Dentistry”, “Pharmacy”.
Training is carried out in disciplines:
- “Public Health and Health Care”;
- “History of Medicine”;
- “Medicine of extreme situations”;
- “Fundamentals of Medical Statistics”;
- “Fundamentals of Statistics”;
- “Biomedical Ethics and Communication in Health Care”
The department conducts postgraduate training of clinical residents, graduate students, undergraduates.
The purpose of the department: training and education of a qualified specialist, a competent organizer of health care, capable of solving issues of protecting and strengthening the health of the population, to think creatively.
Tasks of the department:
- ensuring sustainable development of the department;
- ensuring high quality of preparation of students at the first stage of higher education in assigned disciplines in accordance with the curriculum and programs, documents of the Quality Management System, the requirements of STB ISO 9001;
- conducting by the faculty of the department of fundamental and applied scientific research in accordance with the priority direction of scientific and technical activities in the Republic of Belarus on the protection and promotion of public health;
- training of scientific personnel of the health care system;
- development and implementation of new methodological and organizational approaches in the field of healthcare organization;
- providing advice to government bodies and health organizations on the organization of medical assistance to the population;
- carrying out ideological and educational work among students of the educational institution 'BSMU'.
The department is closely related to practical health care, summarizes the experience of medical institutions. Many teachers of the department had experience in managing medical and preventive institutions of the republic.
Practical healthcare workers use the advice of the department teachers. Most of the organizational activities in the healthcare system are held with the participation of the department staff.
The staff of the department is actively involved in various scientific international projects.
