Teaching work at the department is aimed at training highly qualified doctors with deep theoretical knowledge and practical skills. The faculty of the department constantly works to improve the quality of the methodological support of the educational process, scientific research and clinical work.
The department is responsible for teaching the discipline «Pathological Anatomy» for 2-3 year students (in specialties 1-79 01 01 «General Medicine» and 1-79 01 07 «Dentistry») and 6 courses of the medical and pediatric faculties (sectional biopsy course for specialty 1-79 01 01 «General Medicine»).
The main task in the study of pathological anatomy is to teach students the skills of clinical and anatomical thinking, synthetic generalization of diagnostic signs of diseases and their correct interpretation in the causal relationship of disease mechanisms. Students in the learning process are taught the ability to substantiate the clinical manifestations of diseases with specific data and, on the basis of these data, give a judgment about the form and stage of the disease, about the possibility of recovery and compensation, as well as the possibility of death, reflecting its mechanisms.
Also, the department provides postgraduate training for doctors of various specialties in the following areas:
- biopsy diagnosis of kidney disease;
- morphology of heart disease;
- biopsy diagnosis of prostate and urine bladder cancer;
- biopsy diagnosis of intestinal tumors;
- morphology of liver, kidney and heart transplants.
