The Department of Oral Surgery carry out trials on the topic: “Prediction, diagnosis, treatment, prevention of complications and rehabilitation of patients with the surgical pathology of the maxillofacial area” (No. of state registration 20180755 since 25.05.2018).
Leading scientific directions of the department:
- surgical rehabilitation of maxillofacial patients;
- rehabilitation of maxillofacial and dental patients using reflexotherapy methods;
- optimization of dental implantation surgery of jaw defects;
- new approaches at the treatment complex of infectious inflammatory processes in the maxillofacial region;
- clinical and morphological aspects of the effect of low doses on the tissues of the maxillofacial region.
Since 2008 the department has been one of the initiators of the scientific and practical conference with international participation “Parins’ Lectures”.
The head of the department is Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Irina Olegovna Pohodenko-Chudakova, member of the Council for the Defense of Dissertations for the Degree of Doctor (Candidate) of Medical Sciences at the Belarusian State Medical University and the Belarusian Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education.
The staff of the department work as the part of the editorial boards of 4 professional periodicals (Professor O. P. Chudakov - the journal “Medical Journal” and “News of Surgery”, Professor I.O. Pohodenko-Chudakova - the journal “Dentist” ”). Moreover, the journal “Vyatsky Medical Bulletin” is published in the CIS (Kirov, Russia).
From the staff of the department in 2017, 3 people went to foreign countries to scientific institutions and 4 to the CIS. The overall rate of employees traveling abroad during the academic year is 64%. Five employees of the department are members of foreign public organizations, which of the total number of teaching staff of the department is 46%.
Defense of dissertations
At the Department of Oral Surgery, a master's degree student Ali Tergam Abdulamir Ali (Iraq) defended his dissertation work on the topic “Comparative evaluation of methods for removing dystopic third molars of the lower jaw.” Scientific adviser - Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor Kristina Vadimovna Vilkitskay.
On March 28, 2017, the defense of the thesis for the degree of Candidate of Medical Sciences Ekaterina Viktorovna Maksimovich “Experimental and clinical substantiation of the prevention of common complications of local anesthesia in dentistry” took place.
Defense of the thesis for the degree of candidate of medical sciences Vilkitskaya Kristina Vadimovna “Experimental and clinical substantiation of differentiated tactics of treatment of traumatic toxic injury of the lower alveolar nerve”.
For the period from 2007 to 2021, 14 dissertations were defended at the Department of Surgical Dentistry: 1 for the degree of Doctor of Medical Sciences, 10 for the degree of Candidate of Medical Sciences and 3 Master's theses.
Kabanova Arina Aleksandrovna on the topic: “Complex treatment of odontogenic phlegmons of the maxillofacial area using antioxidants.”
Kazakova Yulia Mikhailovnaon the topic: “Clinical and experimental substantiation of the use of acupuncture in the complex treatment of odontogenic abscesses of the maxillofacial region.”
Avdeeva Ekaterina Anatolyevna on the topic: “Experimental and clinical substantiation of complex treatment of traumatic injury of the inferior alveolar nerve using reflexotherapy.”
The staff of the department took part in the International Scientific and Practical Conference “Innovations in Dentistry”, held on the basis of the educational institution “Belarusian State Medical University”.
The scientific and practical satellite symposium of otorhinolaryngologists dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the educational institution “Grodno State Medical University” was held in Grodno. From the Department of Oral Surgery, the forum was attended by: Head of the Department, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor I.O. Pohodenko-Chudakova, Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor K.V. Vilkitskaya, postgraduate graduate, trained at the department, doctor - researcher A.V. Surin, a graduate of the Faculty of Dentistry N.I. Poliakova, who actively participated in the work of the student scientific association. prof. B.V. Parina and continuing her research activities together with her supervisor - Ph.D., Associate Professor K.V. Vilkitskaya.
The staff of the Department of Oral Surgery in the materials of the symposium published two works, which were also presented in the form of oral messages at the forum by young specialists N.I. Poliakova and A.V. Surin.
In accordance with the order of the Ministry of Health on the basis of the state institution “Republican Scientific and Practical Center of Oncology and Medical Radiology' Republican scientific-practical conference “Early diagnosis, clinical picture, course and treatment of head and neck tumors' was held as part of the European week for early diagnosis of head and neck cancer.
