EVENTS AT THE DEPARTMENT IN 2020-2021
DENTSPLY SIRONA CIS INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS
On September 18-19, 2020, Moscow hosted the online annual International Congress of Dentsply Sirona CIS. Dentsply Sirona is the world leader in the dental market. On September 18, 2020, on the basis of the 1st Department of Therapeutic Dentistry of BSMU, teachers, clinical residents and students replenished their exciting knowledge base thanks to modern technologies.
The guests of the congress received an extensive lecture program in the section “Therapeutic Dentistry”, discussed topical issues of modern dentistry. The first part of the section was devoted to aesthetic problems. Anna Gruzdenko, specialist in the field of aesthetic restoration, introduced the guests to “Dental Technologies and Facial Aesthetics”. Roman Vasiliadis, Chief Physician of the Center for Aesthetic Dentistry and Reconstructive Surgery “DENTA-VIAS” in Saratov, gave a lecture “Composite Veneers. Working with Dental Discolorites in Direct Restoration”.
The second part of the congress was no less intense and devoted to endodontic treatment. Andrey Zoryan, Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Therapeutic Dentistry, RUDN, presented to the guests “Analysis of Errors and Complications in Endodontic Practice”. Dmitry Nikolaev, Candidate of Medical Sciences, Chief Physician, dentist-therapist of “Dental Clinic MAN” delivered a lecture “Root Canal Instrumentation. A Modern Look”.
Despite the active way of life, the epidemiological situation and the lack of opportunities to share experiences in real time, there are modern technologies that allow you to participate in clinical lectures from all over the world.
INTRODUCTION TO MINSK FOR FOREIGN STUDENTS
In October 2020, a walk through the parks of Minsk was held by Associate Professor Gorodetskaya O. S., assistants Rosenik N. I. and Litvichuk Ya. O. with foreign students of groups 6340 and 7312.
Everyone was satisfied with the 2-hour walk in the fresh air and pleasant communication, and also admired the golden autumn in Belarus.
DECEMBER 1-WORLD AIDS DAY
On December 1, 2020, teachers of the 1st Department of Therapeutic Dentistry held lectures for students on the topic: “International Solidarity, Shared Responsibility in the Fight Against the HIV Epidemic/AIDS”. The HIV pandemic/AIDS, as well as COVID-19, have shown how closely health issues are linked to human rights, gender equality and social protection.
Every year, World AIDS Day remains relevant, as the issue of raising awareness about HIV infection remains very important. As of 01.11.2020, more than 30 thousand cases of HIV infection and more than 23 thousand people living with HIV were registered in the Republic of Belarus.
In the Republic of Belarus, an accessible anonymous system of counseling and testing for HIV infection has been created in every medical institution. All HIV-positive patients who are under dispensary supervision receive medicines for antiretroviral therapy free of charge. It should be remembered that timely treatment ensures a long and full life for HIV-infected patients.
V International Congress on Dental Implantology
The 1st Department of Therapeutic Dentistry took part in the International Congress on Dental Implantology that was held on March 4, 2021. The Congress was organized in the format of a video conference. The speakers raised quite interesting topics, including secrets of successful aesthetics during immediate implantation; predicting complications of dental implantation based on basic markers of bone remodeling detected in the oral fluid and much more.
