Dialogue Platform "Belarus and Russia: Benchmarks for Cooperation" at BSMU

В Белорусском государственном медицинском университете 2 апрелOn the 2nd of April, Belarusian State Medical University hosted a dialogue platform "Belarus and Russia: Benchmarks for Cooperation," dedicated to the Day of Unity of the Peoples of Belarus and Russia. The initiators and organizers of this event were the following ones: Head of the Department of Belarusian and Russian Languages Tatyana Melnikova, Curator of the National Community of the Russian Federation Lyudmila Dremezova, and Leader of the National Community of the Russian Federation Kristina Deputat.

The ceremonial meeting was opened by the rector of the university, corresponding member of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Sergey Rubnikovich. He stressed the importance of cooperation between the two countries in the fields of education and medicine.

Yuri Makushin, Head of the Rossotrudnichestvo Representative Office in the Republic of Belarus and Counselor of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Belarus, was present as an honorary guest at the event and emphasized the importance of the unity of our peoples.

The dialogue was attended by the experts: Deputy Head of the Rossotrudnichestvo Representative Office, First Secretary of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Belarus Elizaveta Andreeva; consultant of the Representative Office of Rossotrudnichestvo in the Republic of Belarus, curator of educational projects Natalia Sapozhnikova; Vice-Rector for International Relations Dmitry Chuikov; Vice-Rector for Ideological and Educational Work, Candidate of Medical Sciences, Colonel of the Medical Service Denis Chernov; Vice-Rector for Clinical Work, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor Vladislav Rimashevsky; Dean of the Faculty of Medicine for International Students, PhD in Medicine, Colonel of the Medical Service, Associate Professor Oleg Ishutin; Head of the Student Campus, Master of Sciences in Economics Aleksey Katichev; Head of the Department of Belarusian and Russian Languages ​​Tatyana Melnikova; Chairperson of the Association of Foreign Alumni of Belarusian State Medical University Alla Sharapa.

The participants built a strong bridge of friendship during the interactive session, discussed their shared past and common interests in the present, and shared plans for the future.

The dialogue focused on historical memory as a moral foundation; economic and scientific ties; educational bridges; cooperation in healthcare; and outstanding BSMU graduates working in Russia.

The students asked questions about the selection criteria for participation in academic mobility programs, opportunities for independently initiating internships, and prospects for creating joint volunteer medical projects. The discussion focused on the digitalization of medicine, including the creation of a common registry and the exchange of experience in IT solutions. The participants were also interested in the prospects for future doctors within the Union State.

"Which Russian medical universities are BSMU's main partners? Are there any plans to create joint educational programs with the Russian universities?" - these were the questions students asked, seeking information about opportunities for further education and professional growth. The experts answered students' questions, creating an atmosphere of open dialogue and interaction.

The dialogue platform was led by students Vladislav Khristich, group 1308 (Russia) and Irina Studentsova, group 1308 (Belarus). The tone of the event was set by active assistants and participants: Veronika Matveenko (group 1122); Zarina Galimova (group 6204); Almira Uzdenova (group 6145); Timur Abdulin (group 1332); Danila Gulakov (group 1332); Roza Minasyan (group 6204); Anastasia Gulnik (group 6204); Dmitry Samotesov (group 1332).

The meeting concluded with a musical performance and a general congratulations on the Unity Day. The song "Two Sisters – Belarus and Russia," performed by Alexander Chaki-Rosenbaum (band 1303) and Pavel Kiryukhin (band 6106), was a true gift for everyone present.

The event was attended by Elena Devina, Deputy Dean for Ideological and Educational Work of Medical Faculty for International Students, Candidate of Medical Sciences, and Associate Professor; facademic staff of the Department of Belarusian and Russian Languages; and students of the Medical Faculty for International Students, the Faculty of Dentistry, and the Faculty of Preventive Medicine.

For Belarusians and Russians, this holiday is a symbol of true friendship. Ensuring equal rights and creating the necessary conditions for a dignified life and well-being for citizens have always been and remain a priority task in the Union State.
