Research work of Physical Education and Sport

The staff of the department has published more than 15 scientific and methodological manuals for students and teachers and 1 textbook (in 3 editions).

Scientific and methodological seminars and conferences are held annually at the department. The employees of the department take part and make reports at International and National conferences.

The main areas of research work:

  • identification of the physical health and physical fitness level of medical students;
  • optimization of the physical health level of students by means of physical culture.

A comparative analysis of the studied indicators of physical health revealed the presence of negative deviations in the average value characterizing the functional state of the cardiovascular, respiratory and muscular systems of medical students. The integral assessment of the level of physical health in 70% is unsatisfactory.

The study of physical fitness revealed that most of the students studied successfully cope with the control standards, except for long-distance running. Thus, in both boys and girls, the integral assessment of the level of physical health in most cases is unsatisfactory, while the assessment of the level of physical fitness is satisfactory or good.

Currently, 1 research topic is being carried out at the department:

  • «Professional and applied component of the physical education process of medical students» (2019-2023). UDC No. GR 20191501 of 28.06.2019 Supervisor: Head of the Department of Physical Education and Sports, Ph.D., Associate Professor K. Yu. Romanov. Responsible executor Deputy Head for Research, Senior Lecturer Vanda E. S.
