The results of scientific research of the staff of the Department of Phthisiopulmonology
The results of scientific research of the department, which are new technologies in the diagnosis and treatment of specific and nonspecific respiratory diseases, are widely used in teaching certain topics in practical classes and lectures.
Over the past 5 years, the staff of the department published 287 scientific papers, received 4 patents for inventions, made 116 reports at scientific conferences, of which 37 were abroad.
Areas of research work of the staff of the Department of Phthisiopulmonology:
Improvement of diagnostics, differential diagnosis and treatment of patients with sarcoidosis of the respiratory system, problems of identifying extrapulmonary sarcoidosis, various aspects of diagnosis and treatment of specific and nonspecific respiratory diseases taking into account comorbid pathology, optimization of the system of medical rehabilitation of patients with respiratory diseases, modern approaches to the diagnosis of cystic fibrosis in Republic of Belarus.
Problems of early diagnosis of tuberculosis in children and adolescents and complications of BCG vaccination, the introduction into practice of a new laboratory test for the diagnosis of tuberculosis infection and the development of a regulatory framework for pediatric tuberculosis services and its adaptation to modern international WHO protocols (associate professor Zh. Krivosheeva, ass. Emelyanova N.A.).
Completed the scientific theme 'To develop and implement algorithms for the detection and treatment of pediatric patients with tuberculosis infection based on the use of modern immunological methods, taking into account the drug resistance of the pathogen.' New algorithms for differential diagnosis and tactics of treatment of latent tuberculosis infection (LTBI) in children have been introduced.
Improving rehabilitation measures in adult patients with cystic fibrosis and bronchiectasis, problems of diagnosing cystic fibrosis in adults, studying the features of functional parameters in patients with idiopathic interstitial pneumonia (Assoc. Prof. NV Manovitskaya).
Study of clinical and laboratory features and effectiveness of modern approaches to the treatment of patients with a combination of drug-resistant tuberculosis and diabetes mellitus (ass. Antonova N.P.)
Improvement of methods of rehabilitation and treatment of bronchial obstructive diseases (COPD, bronchial asthma) in adults (Litskevich L.V.).

On 2019, Borodina G.L. defended her thesis on the topic “Sarcoidosis of the respiratory system: prevalence, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation” and awarded the title of professor.

On October 29 - November 1, 2019, the XXIX National Congress on Respiratory Diseases with international participation was held in Moscow. The event was attended by leading scientists from different countries of Europe, Asia, America and, of course, the Russian Federation.
The scientific program included numerous schools of the Russian Respiratory Society for doctors, sections, symposia, round tables, lectures, clinical discussions and a competition for young scientists. The meetings were held simultaneously at 5-10 venues. Schools of the Russian Respiratory Society for doctors covered a range of issues from modern technologies for visualization of respiratory diseases (including computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, positron emission tomography and digital tomosynthesis), functional diagnostics of diseases, examination of working capacity, problems of diagnosis and treatment of pulmonary hypertension, new paradigms of management of patients with COPD, idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, treatment of severe asthma, community-acquired pneumonia before organizing the treatment of cystic fibrosis on an outpatient basis, immunoprophylaxis of lung diseases in children, cryogenic techniques in the diagnosis and treatment of lung diseases (intraluminal and transbronchial cryobiopsy) and cryobiopsy.

From 1 to 12 October 2018, the European Tuberculosis Research Initiative (EII-TB) Course on Operations Research was held in Copenhagen, hosted by the WHO Regional Office for Europe, for the second consecutive year. This time, 12 participants from such countries as Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, the Republic of Moldova, and Ukraine were trained.

35 Congress of Pulmonologists of Poland
In Jachranka (Poland) from 05.11.2018 to 05.16.2018, the 35th Congress of Polish Pulmonologists was held. Associate professors of the department G.L. Borodin took part in the work of the congress and made reports. and Manovitskaya N.The. Also, the staff of the department participated in the work of the section and the “round table” (within the framework of the congress) of pulmonologists from Poland, Ukraine and Belarus, discussed programs for further cooperation with the leadership of the National Institute of Lung Diseases and Tuberculosis in Warsaw (which is a partner of BSMU in international cooperation).

Teachers of the department take an active part in the work of international and national conferences, congresses and seminars (including training ones) devoted to modern problems of phthisiology and pulmonology.
Traditionally, for many years, the department has been making reports at the republican scientific and practical conferences “Results of the work of the anti-tuberculosis and pulmonological service and prospects for its development”, “Modern aspects of the treatment of MDR-tuberculosis”, “Actual problems of pulmonology”.
