Educational and Methodical work of Oncology

The clinical basis of the Department is the Minsk City Clinical Oncological Hospital. It is the multidisciplinary medical institution which includes 6 oncosurgical departments: oncomammology, coloproctology, thoracic, oncourology, minimally invasive surgery, polyclinic-diagnostic department, oncogynecology; 2 reanimation departments, 2 departments of chemotherapy, 2 departments of radiology, 1 department of nuclear medicine, 1 department of sonography, CT, MRI, PET CT, radionuclide diagnostics, radio planning room, cytological and morphological department, 4 linear accelerators, 1 brachytherapy department

The Department of Oncology provides education of 5-course students of the medical, military medical, pediatric faculties of foreign students as well as of residents. Residency in specialties: oncology, therapy, anesthesiology-reanimatology, surgery, obstetrics-gynecology.

Classes are conducted according to the approved work programs and subject plants. Practical classes include a theoretical analysis of the subject illustrated by roentgenograms, computer tomography grams, sonograms, slides and photo representations, video films. After this the subject analysis of patients is being made using the examination results, substantiating the diagnosis and the treatment strategy of a patient. Students visit diagnosis and treatment rooms, as well as the department of the Oncological Hospital, participate in general Department staff visits, clinical, morbid anatomy and scientific-practical conferences, boards of scientists, attend the consultations of patients in the polyclinic of the Oncological Hospital.

Residents (surgeons, oncologists and gynecologists) participate in operations as assistants. Moreover students supervise on their own patients, registering the education history of the disease.  

Practical skills are developed on dummy stimulators: breast tumors, prostate tumors, female genital abnormalities.

The intermediate and final test-control of the knowledge of the 5- and 6-year students of the medical and pediatric faculties is developed.

The department developed and approved the educational and methodical complexes on residency in specialities: medical care, pediatry, e-complexes, including for residences in specialities: oncology, otorhinolaryngology, obstetrics and gynecology, surgery, ophthalmology, pathologic anatomy. The Department employees supervise intern s. This work contains the organization, methodical support and internship control in Minsk and in the Minsk region, the final qualification oncology examination of interns.
