Clinical work of Endocrinology

The clinical work is carried out by the department staff at 4 main clinical sites located in Minsk:

  • 1st City Clinical Hospital (Nezavisimosti ave., 64);
  • City Endocrinology Centre (Kiseleva str., 7);
  • Republican Center for Medical Rehabilitation and Balneotherapy (Makayenka str., 17);
  • Minsk City Clinical Oncology Centre (Nezavisimosti ave., 64).

Doctor of Medical Science, Professor T.V. Mokhort advises the Endocrinology and Intensive Care Units and PhD, Associate Professor E.I. Shyshko – Departments of Cardiology and Rheumatology of the 1st City Clinical Hospital. T.V. Mokhort provides consultations to the patients with endocrine diseases in the City Endocrinology Centre and the Republican Center for Medical Rehabilitation and Balneotherapy as well. Assistant M.A. Mashkova supervises patients in the Department of Endocrinology and provides practice-based continuous glucose monitoring for patients with diabetes. Associate Professor E.G. Mokhort is an Endocrinology consultant in the City Osteoporosis Center and Minsk City Clinical Oncology Centre, where she gives advice to the patients with benign thyroid disesese and thyroid cancer before and after surgical treatment. The teaching staff of the department also advises the City Center for Endocrine Disorders in Pregnancy on a regular basis. PhD, Assistant O.N. Shyshko and PhD, Associate Professor I.K. Bylodid carry on their clinical work on the basis of the City Endocrinology Centre. At the moment, I.K. Bylodid is the head of the Belarussian State Medical University faculty consulting centre. Doctor of Medical Science, Professor A.P. Shepelkevic and PhD, Assistant Yu.V. Dydyshko give classes and do clinical work on the basis of the Republican Center for Medical Rehabilitation and Balneotherapy. Clinical residents supervise patients in the Endocrinology Unit of the 1st City Clinical Hospital. If necessary, all the members of the department teaching staff provide consultations to the patients with endocrine disorders in any health care facility in Belarus.

On a regular basis the members of the teaching staff serve as an organizers and speakers at the international, republican, city and regional conferences, carry on practical workshops with an eye to improve the clinician knowledge in endocrinology and related medical problems and give opportunity for physicians from Belarus to collaborate with their fellow endocrine professionals from across the globe.

The department is growing rapidly. The academic staff successfully implements new diagnostic methods and treatment strategies of thyroid disorders, diabetes mellitus and its complications, androgen deficiency, secondary hyperparathyroidism, endocrine osteopathies.

One of the main focuses in the work of the department is health promotion. The teaching staff actively uses social media to talk about the importance of healthy lifestyle and healthy eating habits in diabetes, cardiovascular disease, obesity and cancer prevention, as well as to spread knowledge about the most common endocrine diseases across the population.
