Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to the Republic of Belarus Visits BSMU

On 10 September, Belarusian State Medical University hosted an important meeting with a delegation from the Embassy of Georgia in the Republic of Belarus.

The honorary delegation included George Saganelidze, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to the Republic of Belarus; Aleks Iasashvili, First Secretary of the Embassy of Georgia in the Republic of Belarus; and Raul Chkhetia, Assistant to the Consul of the Embassy of Georgia in the Republic of Belarus.

The BSMU side was represented by Sergey Rubnikovich, Rector of Belarusian State Medical University, Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor; Dmitry Chuikov, Vice-Rector for International Relations; Oleg Ishutin, Dean of the Medical Faculty for International Students, Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor; and Yulia Kupriyanovich, Head of the Center for Professional Training in Internship and Clinical Residency.

During the meeting, Sergey Rubnikovich introduced the distinguished guests to the structure and scientific potential of BSMU, emphasizing the University's role as the country's leading medical university. The delegation was also informed about the University's educational programmes, research areas, and international activities.

At present, citizens of Georgia are studying at BSMU: five students are enrolled at the Medical Faculty for International Students, three students were admitted to the first year in the current academic year, and 120 specialists are undertaking clinical residency training.

The parties exchanged views on potential areas of cooperation in medical education and science. The participants expressed their mutual interest in further developing dialogue and strengthening partnership relations. The meeting was held in a constructive and friendly atmosphere and marked another step towards establishing long-term cooperation between BSMU and the Embassy of Georgia in the Republic of Belarus.
