The Department of Biological Chemistry is a specialized structural unit of the University and carries out educational, methodological, research and educational work.

The Department of Biological Chemistry teaches the discipline 'Biological Chemistry' for students studying in the following specialties:

  • 1-79.01.01 'General Medicine'
  • 1-79.01.07 'Dentistry'
  • 1-79.01.08 'Pharmacy'

The study of biological chemistry is a necessary component of the fundamentally oriented training of medical and pharmaceutical specialists. Biological chemistry is the molecular basis of pathogenesis, diagnosis, treatment and prognosis of diseases.

The department pays great attention to the quality of teaching: 9 teachers are Сandidates of Science, 8 of them have the academic title of associate professor. The department is headed by Doctor of Medical Sciences, professor A.D. Tahanovich.

Most of the teachers of the Department of Biological Chemistry are graduates of the Belarusian State Medical University (BSMU). The department also employs graduates of the Belarusian State University (BSU) and the International Sakharov Environmental Institute of BSU.

The staff of the department carry out a large educational and methodological work aimed at improving the educational process and creating additional educational and methodological materials.

Currently, three generations of teachers work at the Department of Biochemistry. The experience and wisdom of the older generation, together with the enthusiasm and energy of young people, make it possible to look to the future with optimism. The department has sufficient potential for further fruitful scientific teaching and learning work.
