Teaching phthisiopulmonology is carried out at the 4th and 6th courses of the Faculty of General Medicine and the Faculty of Medicine of foreign students, the 4th year of the military medical and the 5th year of the pediatric and preventive medicine faculties. The final control of knowledge is carried out in the form of differentiated credit for the 4th and 5th courses and credit for the 6th year of the medical faculty. Phthisiopulmonology issues are included in the state examination in internal medicine and pediatrics.
There is close cooperation between the State Institution “Republican Scientific and Practical Center of Pulmonology and Tuberculosis” and the Department of Phthisiopulmonology of the Belarusian State Medical University.
Employees of the Department of Phthisiopulmonology carry out treatment, diagnostic and advisory work in the State Institution “Republican Scientific and Practical Center for Pulmonology and Tuberculosis”, the Consulting Center of the State Institution “Republican Scientific and Practical Center for Pulmonology and Tuberculosis”, and Minsk Center of Phthisiopulmonology.
The sphere of scientific interests of the Department of Phthisiopulmonology: diagnosis and treatment of tuberculosis, molecular genetic methods for identifying the causative agent of tuberculosis and drug resistance, tuberculosis and concomitant pathology, improving the diagnosis and medical rehabilitation of sarcoidosis of the respiratory system, other respiratory diseases, especially cystic fibrosis in adults.
