Pediatric Dentistry

At the Department of Pediatric Dentistry students of II, III, IV, V years of the Dental Faculty and the Medical Faculty for Foreign Students are trained the disciplines «Preventive Dentistry» and «Pediatric Dentistry», as well as IV year students of the Pediatric Faculty are trained in the discipline «Dentistry». Teaching is organized in Russian and English.

The Head of the Department of Pediatric Dentistry is Doctor of Medicine, Professor Natallia Shakavets. Academic staff of the Department includes 3 Professors, 12 Associate Professors, 8 Senior Teachers, 4 Assistants. Among them there are three Doctors of Medical Science and twenty PhDs in Medicine

Annually students, masters and clinical residents from Iran, Iraq, Lebanon, Israel, China, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Uzbekistan, Russia, Syria, USA, Sweden are studied in the Department.

Students and intern doctors gain the knowledge about the principles of dental public health; modern approaches to dental diseases prevention; diagnostic and treatment of dental diseases, periodontium, oral mucosa, inflammatory diseases, tumors and congenital malformations of the maxillofacial region. Students are training in behavior management. After discussion of theoretical part of the class students conduct a clinical appointment of patients under the supervision of teaching stuff. After graduation students can apply for one-year master’s degree or two-years residency where they can improve their knowledge and practical skills on specialties «Pediatric Therapeutic Dentistry» and «Pediatric Maxillo-Facial Surgery». Postgraduates and clinical residents study in depth the issues of diagnosis, prevention and treatment of dental diseases in children.
