Pathological Anatomy and Forensic Medicine

The department is responsible for teaching the discipline «Pathological Anatomy» for 2-3 year students (in specialties 1-79 01 01 «General Medicine» and 1-79 01 07 «Dentistry») and 6 courses of the medical and pediatric faculties (sectional biopsy course for specialty 1-79 01 01 «General Medicine»).

The teaching staff of the department conduct active consultative and diagnostic work at the clinical bases of the department in accordance with modern protocols and standards of morphological investigations.

The Department of Forensic Medicine provides training in the following disciplines:

  • «Forensic Medicine»,
  • «Safety of human life activity», part «Labor protection»,
  • «Fundamentals of Intellectual Property Management»,
  • «Law basics»,
  • «Medical Law».

As a result of studying at the Department students acquire forensic medical and legal knowledge and skills necessary for their future professional activity.

Objectives:

  • organization and management of educational and methodological work in the disciplines taught at the department;
  • conducting educational and ideological work with BSMU students;
  • research in the field of Forensic Medicine and Medical Law;
  • methodological and advisory assistance in the Minsk Office of the State Committee for Forensic Examination of the Republic of Belarus, which is the clinical base of the department.

Scientific interests of the Department are forensic medical examination of the sudden death at a young age, analysis of healthcare legal norms transformation.

The educational process is carried out by 9 lecturers and assistants, 4 of them have PhD degree, 1 is an applicant for the degree of PhD in medical sciences. The lecturers and assistants have higher medical, legal and pedagogical education. Technical support of the pedagogical process and office procedures at the Department is carried out by 2 laboratory assistants.
