The Department of Nervous and Neurosurgical Diseases is located at the following clinical bases: State Institution «Minsk Scientific and Practical Center for Surgery, Transplantology and Hematology» (Neurology) and City Clinical Emergency Hospital (Neurosurgery). Part of the practical training is conducted at the bases of the State Institution «Republican Research and Clinical Center of Neurology and Neurosurgery».
The purpose of teaching is to provide professional erudition, the outlook of a doctor for differential diagnosis and differential therapy, as well as in the formation of students' skills necessary for neurological research and diagnosis of the most frequent or urgent lesions of the nervous system.
The main aim of teaching:
- training in the skills of neurological examination, identification of symptoms of damage to the nervous system, isolation of neurological syndromes and substantiation of the topical diagnosis;
- obtaining by the student modern knowledge about the etiology, pathogenesis, clinic, diagnosis, treatment and prevention of diseases of the nervous system;
- the formation of students' clinical neurological thinking, the ability to independently diagnose, conduct and prescribe the necessary complex of examination and treatment of urgent neurological conditions and prevention of diseases of the nervous system.
The main areas of scientific activity: cell therapy of multiple sclerosis, telemedicine, neurooncology, prediction of stroke.
