At the department of Histology, Cytology and Embryology, students of the faculties General Medicine, Pediatrics, Military Medicine, Preventive Medicine and Medical Faculty for Foreign Students study histology. It is a fundamental medico-biological science that studies development, microscopic structure, functions and recoverability of fundamental tissues and their specialty in organs. Histology as an academical discipline joins some sciences. It is divided into: cytology – the science about the structure and functions of cells; embryology – the science about the development of the organism, general histology – the science about the development, structure and functions of tissues and special histology – the science about the development, structure and functions of the organs and the systems of the organs. This knowledge is essential for further studies of other biomedical and clinical disciplines, as well as for the practical work of a doctor.
