Anesthesiology and Reanimatology

The history of the Department of Anesthesiology and Reanimatology dates back to 1970, when for the first time a course was organized for teaching the discipline (at the Department of Hospital Surgery, head of Associate Professor V. M. Prokhorov, clinical base is the 1st City Clinical Hospital of Minsk) at the Minsk State Medical Institute. The course was headed by Associate Professor A. A. Plavinsky, and F. B. Kagan and E. B. Lipen worked together with him on the development and teaching of anesthesiology and resuscitation.

In 1980, O. T. Prasmytsky became a Professor Assistant of the course, who headed it later in 1991 , and from 2008 to 2019 he was the Head of the Department of Anesthesiology and Reanimatology. The decision to create the department was due to increasing demand of the health care system for anesthesiologists-resuscitators, which determined the need to start an advanced course in anesthesiology and resuscitation at the university. Since 2019 the department has been headed by S. S. Grachev.

In 1990-2000, the teaching staff included N. K. Ivankovich, T. A. Chervyakova, D. A. Budko, A. G. Skryagin, R. E. Rzheutskaya, I. M. Rovdo. O. T. Prasmytsky, V. P. Zanevsky, S. S. Grachev, O. B. The scientific direction of the department is to optimize the methods of anesthesia and intensive care of critical conditions. The scientific work of the department is supervised by Associate Professor O. B. Pavlov.
