The transient receptor potential vanilloid type1(TRPV1)is expressed in nociceptive sensory neurons and is sensitive to phosphorylation. A-Kinase Anchoring Protein 79/150 (AKAP150)mediates phosphorylation of TRPV1 by Protein Kinases A and C, modulating channel activity. However, few studies have focused on the regulatory mechanisms that control AKAP150 association with TRPV1. In the present study, we identify a role for calcium/calmodulin in controlling AKAP150 association with, and sensitization of, TRPV1.

Prolactin(PRL)is a hormone and a neuromodulator. The inhibitory amino acid GABA is a potent modulator of the spontaneous discharge and the responses to afferent inputs of neurons in the nucleus of the solitary tract (NTS). To determine if responses to activation of GABAA receptors are altered in hypertension, GABAA receptor–evoked whole cell currents were measured in enzymatically dispersed NTS neurons from 33 normotensive (NT, 109 4 mm Hg, n 7) and 24 hypertensive (HT, 167 5 mm Hg,n 24) rats.

To understand the involvement of thyroid hormone on the postnatal development of hypothalamic thermosensitive neurons, we focused on the analysis of thermosensitive neuronal activity in the preoptic and anterior hypothalamic(PO/AH) regions of developing rats with and without hypothyroidism. In euthyroid rats, the distribution of thermosensitive neurons in PO/AH showed that in 3-week-old rats (46 neurons tested), 19.5% were warm-sensitive and 80.5% were nonsensitive.
