Doctor of Medical Sciences Natalya Klimkovich participated at the Vth Joint Congress of the Russian Society of Pediatric Oncologists and Hematologists

Head of the Department of Pediatric Oncology, Hematology and Immunology of the Institute of Advanced Training and Retraining of Healthcare Personnel of Belarusian State Medical University, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor Natalya Klimkovich took part in the 5th Joint Congress of the Russian Society of Pediatric Oncologists and Hematologists “Current problems and prospects for the development of pediatric oncology and hematology in the Russian Federation".

The forum took place from the 21st to the 23rd of November in Moscow. It was organized by the Russian Society of Pediatric Oncologists and Hematologists, the Department of Medical Care for Children, Obstetrics and Public Health Services of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, Research Institute of Pediatric Oncology and Hematology named after Academician L. A. Durnov, Federal State Budgetary Institution "N. N. Blokhin National Medical Research Center of Oncology" of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, Federal State Budgetary Institution "National Medical Research Center of Pediatric Oncology named after Dmitry Rogachev" of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation. More than 2,000 specialists who were involved in the work of 38 sections took part in the event.

The congress program included fundamental and applied aspects of pediatric oncology, hematology and immunology; there were presented the results of large international and pilot research studies. The forum became a good school where the latest Russian and foreign recommendations were published, clinical analyzes of difficult patients in pediatric oncology and hematology practice were held, and innovations in the management of patients with different nosologies were demonstrated. An interdisciplinary approach to discussing the problems of pediatric oncology and hematology was evident in discussions in which not only oncologists-hematologists, but also surgeons, infectious disease specialists, clinical pharmacologists, resuscitators and other specialists took part.

The main thematic directions of the forum were the following ones: organization of systematic work in the field of pediatric oncology and hematology, including the development of procedures, standards and clinical recommendations; multidisciplinary approaches in the treatment of certain forms of childhood oncological and hematological diseases; principles of local control (surgical care and radiotherapy); fundamental principles and innovative technologies in the diagnosis and treatment of hematological, oncological and immunological diseases in children, adolescents and young adults. During the congress, delegates were presented with the opportunities to expand bilateral cooperation and exchange information on the current issues in pediatric oncology and hematology.

During the meetings with representatives of foreign educational institutions, there were discussed aspects of scientific and educational cooperation, interaction with Russian educational and healthcare institutions, and participation in joint events.

Following the results of the Vth Joint Congress of the Russian Society of Pediatric Oncologists and Hematologists, there was held a discussion at the Department of Pediatric Oncology, Hematology and Immunology of the Institute of Advanced Training and Retraining of Healthcare Personnel of Belarusian State Medical University about the possibilities of introducing new advanced technologies for the diagnosis and treatment of oncological and hematological diseases in children into the educational process.
