Established in 1992, the department is responsible for overseeing postgraduate medical education. Its activities include organisation, coordination and control of the teaching and learning process and are carried out in the following directions:

- PhD research degree program;

- MD research degree program;

Postgraduate education is provided in 38 specialities and clinical residency encompasses 33 specialities.

Over the past five years 107 PhD research students and 449 clinical residents have completed their course of postgraduate education including near 100 international students from 19 countries.
