The University is constantly developing international links with medical school of different countries. The main foreign partners are American International Health Alliance(AIHA), the University of Western Ontario (Canada), Medical Schools of Nagasaki and Akita (Japan), Akita — Belarus Society, Pikardi University (the city of Amiens), Maastricth University (Holland), the Universities of Berlin, Dusseldorf, Hannover, Lubeck, Wurzburg (Germany), Witten/Herdek (Germany), Odontologic Department(the city of Lille, France), Belostok Medical Academy (Poland), International Centre of Hospital Hygiene (Germany), The University of Nijmegen (Holland), Dentistry Institute (Odessa, Ukraine), Izhevsk State Medical Academy Izhevsk, Russia), Yerevan State Medical University (Yerevan, Armenia), Sofiya Medical University (Sofiya, Bulgaria), universities of Karmel and Druz (Israel), Central university hospital St. Camillo (Rome, Italy), the report on intentions with the president of Mezericordi (Florence) and others.

Our University, the only higher medical institution registered on the territory of the Commonwealth of Independent States, is a Fellow of the International Association of Higher Medical Education, European Association of Higher Medical Schools (AMSE). It works in collaboration with the WHO, WSPA, participates in numerous research programmes and projects (TEMPUS, TASIS). A number of lecturers achieved international recognition and are honourable members of the leading overseas Higher Medical Schools.

The honourable doctors of our University are 26 well-known scientists from USA, Japan, Austria, Canada, Belarus, Russia, Germany, Switzerland, Poland, Iran. This once more underlines concernment and international recognition of the University.

The reputation of the University was further enhanced in 1996, when a modern Computing Centre with the Internet facilities was set up within the frames of partnership with AIHA.

Currently the University’s main trends in the international activity are as follows:

- state and develop effective, mutually advantageous partnership with the leading educational and research world medical schools;

- create multilateral cooperation programmes in the field of Science, Education and Culture;

- participate actively in the international projects and programmes;

- invite highly qualified overseas specialists to deliver lectures, carry out mutual scientific and research work and provide assistance in teaching system perfection;

- consider suggestions in smoothing the differences between overseas and Belarusian medical education certificates, so that to provide international recognition of the latter;

- joint consulting and surgery of the most complicated cases;

- advanced medical training of the University’s staff on the bases of the partner Universities;

- exercise joint research projects;

- extend student exchanging programmes;

- create the opportunity for the postgraduate students to carry out their research work for MD and Ph D projects at the bases of laboratories and clinics of the partner universities under the guidance of their specialists.
